Great neighborhood bar! On Tuesday there’s a Sirloin Steak Sandwich special that is amazing! The meat is shaved thin. Served on a hoagie roll with swiss cheese and au jus. I would recommend trying it!

Households of cocktail lovers and domestic beer swillers have loved Slice’s since I was a little kid. Growing up my best friend’s parents, Bert and Dora would walk from Hoard St on weekends. Later Brad Brectle was a regular and I saw my neighbor Billy’s hog parked in front of there a few times. We were too young to join the adults, but mostly liked having the houses empty and to ourselves. Slice’s feels familiar. The beers are cold and the food is good. Like anywhere that draws us in, it’s the crowd and the bartenders that make it special. I feel safe when Im here. These days I need that warm, safe, familiar feeling. The warmth and pride from a beautiful east side clientele.

I don’t normally feel challenged by what I get when I ask for extra pickles, but today I felt challenged. My two friends and I each asked for extra pickles and we got what we asked for. The burgers were excellent, the fried food was hot and crisp, and the pickle basket was overflowing. We’ll be back!

A hidden gem in Madison. It seems a bit “hole-in-the-wall” when you’re walking in but as soon as you get inside you feel welcome. They have a popcorn machine, all you can eat style, with a large bar that spans the whole establishment. The vibe is amazing. The decor is Wisconsin dive. The staff is amazing. Honestly if a group of coal miners walked in after a long shift and sat down it would fit perfectly. I had a Ruben and onion rings. The rings were fine. The Ruben was good. The spicy bloody was amazing. This might be my new watering hole.

A wonderful dive bar that is in a part of town that most don’t frequently visit. I started going to Slice’s after sports and loved it. The food and beer is affordable and really great – most reubens these days are 12+ dollars while Slice’s is ~8.

My favorite was the tip by the bartender after ordering the Summer sausage sandwich – add cheese, fried onions, & dusseldorf mustard. TOP NOTCH.

I recently moved (back) to the east side and was looking for a place to get a burger and drinks on a Tuesday night. I’d never heard of this place before but figured I’d give it a shot. What. A. Gem.

Little did I know that the 2nd Tuesday of every month is Drag Bingo – the place was PACKED and everyone had a blast. I literally brought my wife back 2 days later to make the case for Slices to be in our regular bar rotation – she’s sold.

The prices are almost comically low for the isthmus. Craft taps (decent selection) are $5 and the food is super reasonably priced. The burger meat is from Jenny Street Market and is A+ – one of the best bar burgers I’ve had in Madison.

It’s a dive for sure, if you enjoy a good dive bar then this is the spot for you.

I can only vouch for their special pasta night, but the food that evening was fantastic!

What a great neighborhood bar. Some really friendly staff and the food is great. Most importantly they support other local businesses and local charities. THANK YOU!

So good all the time. It’s an older bar but that’s okay they make it work. The food is excellent and the service is great!! If you’re looking for a great sandwich, an ice cold beer with a lot of choices. Great conversation and great history. This is the place for you

Have been going here for years. Food is always a great price and tastes amazing. Now for the downside. There was an individual that was going behind the bar maybe the owner because he kept going to the register. Happily enjoying a great burger, looked down and the man clearly has 2 very bad cases of cellulitis on his calf’s. One side was peeling and draining into his shoe. Immediately lost my appetite. Will not be back and am highly disappointed. No he was not working the grill. This is not acceptable and highly unprofessional.
