This is a great hidden gem. It’s a small restaurant with good food, reasonably priced and excellent service.

It’s a small family owned restaurant that appears the husband and wife do everything, I like supporting these types of businesses.

I will continue going and spreading the word.

This unassuming sushi spot in the Vons center at Torrance and Anza is incredible.. the quality and authenticity are off the charts. Their menu does not have the wild overly sauced extravaganza rolls you commonly see now in America.. this store has been there for a long time and they stuck to the more simple, traditional menu that relies on quality and balance rather than a ton of sweet eel sauce and mayo. The service is friendly and you can tell this is a long time neighborhood family run place that is much loved by the community. We will be back soon to try more of the menu.. also have ordered takeout and it was just as good and perfectly done. Eat in, take out.. just eat the food and be transported to a simple time when sushi was just taking off in America.. great ingredients and talented chef working with them makes this a must try.

I was just here last night with my wife and we got to meet her friend who works here and also got to meet the owner and his wife at the restaurant. When you walk in you really feel like you’re back in Japan (one of my favorite countries to visit by the way) and the vibe there is very chill, mellow, and fun… The good was great and the customer service was amazing. The eel was amazing along with the Tuna Roll (of course I had to have a cold beer to go with it ) and places like this is one of the reasons why I love eating sushi with a real taste of Japan atmosphere to go with it! I will definitely be back and thank you so much for the hospitality!!!

fresh sushi and huge variety of different fish. I loved the snapper, salmon and scallops. Every fish I tried was really tasty and well prepared. The owners who are also the sushi chefs are really nice! They definitely know how to create traditional Japanese sushi and dishes. The vibe is fun and the place has character. So glad I tried this cool little sushi restaurant!

My first review!

My visit here last night was nothing short of a revelation in the art of sushi dining. Celebrating its 17th year, this gem of a restaurant has not just stood the test of time; it has set the bar for what authentic Japanese cuisine can embody. Though it is not your modern izakaya nor fine-dining luxury, it firmly facets itself as the “OG” restaurant in the diverse Japanese dining scene.

Immediately upon entering, I observed details of its classic entity by old decos of art, calligraphy, signs, photos, and handwritten notes. It was an ambiance that exuded warmth. I immediately felt the history and dedication woven into the fabric of this place. The owners have crafted not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer nuances of Japanese culture and cuisine.

I opted for the sushi combo course. Each piece of sushi was a testament to the chef’s mastery over his craft, with every ingredient shining through in a delicate balance of flavors and textures with a properly curated course. All the nigiri boasted freshness in a blend of tastes that was above satisfactory by the plate.

But what truly sets Sushi Anza apart is the heart and soul poured into every aspect of the dining experience. From the attentive, yet unobtrusive service to the meticulous presentation of the dishes, you can feel the love and dedication that the owners have for their craft. It’s this personal touch combined with an “aged” ambience that transforms a meal into an experience. In a world where the genuine essence of Japanese cuisine can sometimes be lost amidst fusion and innovation, Sushi Anza stands as a beacon of tradition and quality.

Overall, my first visit here was a nostalgic journey through the very essence of Japanese tradition, guided by the hands of those who know and respect it the most. I cannot recommend Sushi Anza enough and look forward to many more visits. I hope to regain the same authentic warmth, excellence, and quality that hallmarks the culinary gems of Torrance.
