Independent Japanese restaurant in Ely, proudly serving the community since 2021. Welcome to Sushi & Salad, our family-run Japanese restaurant in the heart of Ely, Cambridgeshire. We serve a wide variety of freshly prepared sushi alongside flavour-packed hot dishes including teriyaki, katsu, ramen, udon and tempura. We use only the finest ingredients, with house-made ramen noodles and gyoza prepared fresh to ensure an exceptional dining experience. The manager and workers are very attentive, friendly and professional. I like that they share their food opinions when I was unsure what I wanted but obviously wanted something. The food needs a story of it’s own. It’s out of this world and cooked to perfection! 10 of 10 would 100% recommend to anyone. My wife is gluten free. They have been the most and the best accommodating to her allergy needs so that she could also enjoy how delicious their food is. We’ve been going here for three whole years now and I’ve never had a single complaint. This place is nothing short of perfection.

We ordered the combo platter of sushi and sashimi from Salad and Sushi in Ely and it was excellent. The fish was incredibly fresh and truly mouthwatering, with great quality across the whole platter. The cocktails were amazing and complemented the food perfectly. A great spot for fresh sushi and well made drinks. We will definitely be back.

Me, my partner and her sister visited Sushi and Salad about a week ago and this place definitely lives up to all of the good reviews it gets. All of the staff were absolutely lovely from the waiting staff to the manager. The younger waiter, Jatin I think was his name, who took our order was a bit flustered and made a couple of mistakes, of which he was very apologetic about, rectified straight away and did a brilliant job nonetheless. The waitress, called Nimy I think, was also lovely. We didn’t meet any of the chefs, but compliments to them everything we ordered (we ordered a lot and ended up taking what we couldn’t eat home) was beautifully presented and was flavoursome. The only thing I have to say ever so slightly negative is that the salmon in the Salmon Teriyaki was overcooked and came with one piece of flavourless calabrese, the mushrooms in the vegetable rolls were a little tough, and the chopsticks were the snap throw away type, but this did not dim the experience, it still tasted great for the most part, all was eaten and I will bring my own chop sticks next time. My favourite dishes out of the ones we ordered were the rainbow roll, the plantain roll and the baby octopus of which could not have been any better. They also have a great selection of drinks of which I chose ginger beer and a 125ml serving of sake for the table to share. They serve the sake heated or cold, of which I opted for heated as it is the best way to drink this beverage in my opinion. The interior of the restaurant is very relaxing with beautiful wallpaper, lighting and various different art pieces around the place.

A hidden gem in the heart of Ely. Very cosy and welcoming. Everything was fresh and tasty. If you want to enjoy a good meal and a lovely ambience this is the place you should go. Brilliantly presented so from the eye to the mouth a total enjoyable experience.

The food and service at Sushi and Salad is second to none. The quality of the produce is exceptional. The fantastic decor and atmosphere adds to the experience. The staff are knowledgeable on the menu items – a stand-out staff member is Tia. She embraces the Japanese ethos and is truly a star when it comes to service and advice.

I tried the chicken yakisoba, and it was absolutely perfect — packed with flavour, cooked just right, and full of fresh vegetables. The beef yakitori was so tender and juicy, with that beautiful smoky glaze that makes you want more. Sad that they only do only 5 pieces in gyozas.Guy like me need a platter but the combo made me full. Day well spend
