Chef Emilio
As a teenager, Emilio spent summers and weekends working at the restaurants of his uncle Juan and Carlos Hernandez, where he found a passion for Tex-Mex food. The menu he created comes from generations of family cooking. From the Hamburger recipe created by his grandmother Chata, which she used to run a street burger stand in Mexico City to support her ten kids, to the Margarita recipe made by his uncle Daniel Hernandez. This menu is a testament to a family who has always been brought together by food. We hope you enjoy our Cowboy Tex-Mex style, and we hope we become part of your family with our food.

There are a million Mexican restaurants in Houston, but if you’re in the Spring area, Susanita’s is one the special ones that is worth trying out. I ordered the Pollo Relleno off of a recommendation, and oh my goodness was it GOOD! The frozen margaritas were some of the best I’ve ever had—honestly, quite possibly THE best. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. Prices are great for the amount and quality of food you are served. If you’re big into sports, they also had a lot of TVs with many different games on. If you’re looking for an authentic, family-owned restaurant, Susanita’s is your place!

On the search for a brunch that included Menudo. We stumbled upon Susanita’s. A legit family owned business. Whose owner, moved back to his hometown of Spring Texas, to open up his dream business honoring his family. Susanita’s his wife told me comes from his sister’s almost name. His grandmother wanted her to be called Susanita. But when her wish wasn’t granted. She continued to call her Susanita her whole life. Loved finding out how the restaurant was named. The restaurant was spacious, nicely decorated, and extremely clean. Customer service felt like you were visiting a friend’s house, and they were rolling out that red carpet for you. The food was good. The French toast made out of sweet bread was unique, and delicious. The menudo that brought us here, was authentic. We were told that they have $25 Margarita bags to go. I saw a $25 special dinner for 2 advertised for Monday night. Their prices aren’t bad. Brunch was only $15 per person. Insider suggestion is to mix their sweet hot chocolate with your coffee to make an old school Mexican Mocha at the brunch. We definitely will be back.

Susanita’s was SO good. Eliany took care of us and absolutely nailed it. My mom has a “pain in the ass” order (we all have one in the family ) and they got every single detail right without missing a beat.
The margaritas were strong and delicious, the fajitas were sizzling and flavorful, and everything came out fresh and perfect. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience just felt easy and fun.
We’ll definitely be back. If you go, ask for Eliany — she’s fantastic!

The service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was nice. My wife said the flautas were good. My burrito and tostada were a bit bland but the rice with carrots, peas, and lima beans was good. Chips were solid and salsa was OK.

Everything is great about this place.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. The margaritas are the best I’ve ever had. And the food is amazing. We go here frequently and I try something new every time and it never disappoints. I recommend the double stuffed taco and the fried avacodo…but honestly, everything is great. Very clean and well decorated. This place is a must.

Susanita’s opened where Julio’s used to be on FM2920! Finally, some wonderful Mexican food! It’s been years since anyone has opened a great Mexican restaurant there! We’ve been there twice in a week’s time. The food is fantastic! The first time we tried their fajitas! Tender pork that fell apart! They had chorizo on their fajita plate, and that was incredible!
I tried the chicken mole today and it did not disappoint! I’m very picky about my mole and if you are too, you will love theirs! It is sweet yet spicy with just the right amount of cocoa! Their drinks look amazing and can’t wait to try!

We just moved to the area so decided to try a local restaurant. We were truly disappointed. Right off the bat, it took a while to be seated, the place was empty but we were told the staff was busy.
Secondly, the chips were burnt, the queso had the consistency of water. Our drinks took a extremely long time to come back, again, the place was dead except for one other couple.
We finally were served our drinks after about 30 minutes and our order taken. When our food finally came (spring parillada) our next disappointment came. Bland unseasoned chicken. The meat had little white spots and looked like low quality meat. Rice was also bland. The shrimp brochette was burnt to a crisp.
Im not sure where these reviews are coming from. Maybe it was a bad night. But we were left disappointed. We had to go to chik fil a down the block to satisfy our hunger

Fled an icemeggedon in Nashville for some delicious Tex Mex and warmer weather. After a search for local places while trapped in an elevator at the local Springfield Suites Hotel, I discovered Susanitas and it did not disappoint. The chunky guacamole is a must. The steak fajitas were superb. Don’t miss out on the wine butter sauce. Jerry was nice man and made me feel welcome and seen and listened to me talk about my life in a way that made me feel seen.

Edited: May 10, 2025. This review was for Julio’s. This is now a different restaurant that did not make their own Google page. Please visit Julio’s on sawdust….
The consistency amongst this location and the Sawdust location is beyond amazing. We have thoroughly enjoyed not only the food but the service as well. We have not had a bad visit. We go so much, I wish they would just cook for me every day. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed
