We were barely seated before being asked about our drink and food choices. When we requested more time, we were given plenty of it. When our server finally returned, we ordered the “Duce,” which included eggs cooked in any style, pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausage. We also ordered the Breakfast Tacos with Potato Cakes and a side of Lemon Dressed Mixed Greens made with their in-house dressing.
The food was mediocre at best. The pancakes were pale and only became palatable with the addition of syrup. The “seasoned” chicken in the Breakfast Tacos lacked flavor, and we had to rely on the provided Frank’s Extra Hot sauce to enhance the taste. The Lemon Dressed Mixed Greens dressing was lacking in lemon flavor; it seemed like plain oil with barely detectable seasoning. The Potato Cakes were the highlight of the meal.
We were given our check while still eating, without being asked if we needed anything else, and there was no indication that our service would continue. We are unlikely to return to this establishment, as the service seemed to favor the regular patrons, and the food provided a neutral experience.
First-time visit and couldn’t be happier. While the restaurant was full, we didn’t have to wait long for our table for a party of six. Our waitress Nina made us feel right at home, as did the owner Ken who spoke with us while waiting for a table.
Staff was spot on with service and a smile. While we had a waitress, all hands were on deck to ensure our experience was exceptional. Of course, that service has to be backed up with delicious food and it was exactly that. Plates we’re cleared!
Had a great time and look forward to going back again the next time I’m in Philly.
It seems to be the place all the locals come for breakfast. Staff knew many of the customers by name and arriving customers would stop and talk to others who had arrived earlier.
I ordered the meat lovers omelette. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. However, it had no flavor.
Price was reasonable.
There are other places in the area which I like better so I don’t think I will rush back here.
