Gorgeous view of the sunset over the lake as we enjoyed our dinner. Both the prime rib and coconut shrimp were very good, as were the sautéed veggies and the excellent cream of mushroom soup. Superb friendly service and a very good value. Highly recommended.

Another Restaurant I always Pass But Never Ate At is crossed off my list.

This place definitely didnt disappoint. We had a beautiful view of Lake Winnebago, are server Drake was super friendly and amazing.

Now the food, I had the Ribeye dinner with fries and was absolutely delicious. The fries however were a bit too salty, but that didn’t really bother me.

Definitely will be coming back here again in the future.

Sunset on the Water Bar & Grill in Fond du Lac is the ultimate lakeside spot. The bar service was great, the food was great, and the beer was ice cold. The atmosphere is super cool with incredible, unbeatable views of Lake Winnebago, especially during the sunset hour. The Friday fish fry was truly good! I would def recommend stopping in here, and I’m kicking myself for not visiting this local gem sooner.

I took a party of 15 here for a memorial luncheon for my mother. I called three times beforehand to 1) secure the reservation 2) ensure the reservation was still on their schedule 3) and to give them a final head count. Upon arrival, no table was ready. The older woman server seemed completely put out and annoyed that she had to put tables together, snapping at me “what do you want”? I could not believe after all the calls I made that they were surprised to see us. I also couldn’t believe the attitude we were all getting because of their mistake, especially since the place was practically empty.

There was one younger girl who was our server and she was very sweet. It seemed to take forever for the food to arrive. Again, the place was practically empty but maybe they are not used to groups. I did give the food two stars because some of my mother’s friends liked what they ordered. My meal was marginal at best.

At the end, a bill was given and all staff disappeared. After paying over 400.00 I thought maybe there would be a thank you at the end, but no. It seemed as though we were all a complete bother from start to end.
This was a big mistake on my part, and definitely negatively impacted what was to be a lovely celebration of life for my mother. I’m writing this to hopefully help others who may want to prearrange a group lunch/dinner. My advice is to find another place – there are better options – and they will very likely act more professional and actually appreciate your business.

Nice place with friendly service. We were greeted and seated quickly.
Diane had the BBQ sandwich with sliced brisket and sweet potato fries. The brisket was nice and tender, and the fries were hot and crispy.
I had the BBQ melt with chopped brisket, Swiss and American cheese on Texas toast. The first version came out on burnt toast and had leftover burnt pieces of brisket that were dry and un edible. The server agreed that it was bad and quickly had them redo it. The manager then came by and apologized and brought me the new sandwich. Very good handling of the issue.
The new sandwich was perfectly cooked toast and juicy, tender brisket. Awesome.
When we received our check, I noticed that there was a $2 upcharge on each sandwich for choosing brisket. I was taken by surprise because the menu only shows and upcherge for the plates, but the sandwiches say you can choose any meat and list the price.
The manager tried to explain that it’s a $2 upcharge on ANY item on the menu. I suggested they make that clear on the menu, and she removed the charges.
The manager handled everything without big arguments and with a pleasant attitude.
Overall, highly recommended two thumbs-up
a place on the water, as we usually do, we found this place with good reviews. Upon arriving, we asked for a seat outside on the patio and was told it was closed, so we took a seat by the window in the bar because the dining room was also not available. As we sat down, we noticed there were people on the patio around the fire pit who just had drinks, and we just figured they were not getting served. The very next folks that came in were seated on the patio and given menus, and also, the dining room was suddenly open. That was rude and very irritating.
Now that the host is handled, the rest was good.
Diane chose the combo platter from the specials. One piece of walleye, one piece of beer battered cod, one skewer of grilled shrimp, fried clams strips, coleslaw, and bread.
Everything was cooked just right with minimal breading. The shrimp had a mild flavorful seasoning and was very tasty.
I had the fried Walleye that was, again, done right and very tasty.
Each came with a cup of clam chowder that was ok. It seemed to be made with cream of chicken soup, but since I’m a fan of that, I enjoyed it.
The coleslaw was a disappointment as it was just mush. About the consistency of apple butter.
If the host had not started us off with a bad experience, we may have enjoyed it even more, but overall, the rest of the service and the food were good.
Recommended two thumbs-up

Out for a Saturday drive, looking for outdoor dining in the FDL area. Sadly, there aren’t many choices. Stopped by Sunset and were pleasantly surprised to see their nice sized patio open for dining, right on the lake. VERY friendly and prompt service. Nice menu, including a personal favorite, gyros and even gyro salad. Will make it a stop in the future for food and drinks.

My wife and I enjoyed this place a lot. It was our first time and had to sit outside with a glass of wine and a cold beer overlooking the lake. She had a crunchy chicken wrap and i had french onion soup and a huge burger. It was all delicious and the staff was really nice and attentive. Had a great afternoon here and highly recommend it.

Was very busy, was seated fast. Restaurant was clean food was very tastey. Steak was medium rare as I asked for, had french frys with meal and asparagus cream soup and finished it off with a piece of strawberry IBcheesecake. Cheesecake was ok but not worth money. Waitress was professional but not overly talkative. She spoke so softly was hard to hear her.

Great food! Good service and prices. Sat outside and watched the water and sun and had some cold drinks! Another trip here on a friday. Beautiful day on the patio. Food and service was good. Another great time on the patio this time with music. One of our go to places to meet friends in fond du lac.

My husband and I went here on the 3rd of July and I’m really glad we did. We had a very nice time. There was a band playing, they did fireworks, and had good food. The food was honestly better than we expected. Then there is a gorgeous view on the water. We will definitely be going back!
