If ever there were a place perfectly named, it’s Sunshine Restaurant on Wilmington Island. From the moment you step inside, it feels like someone bottled up a warm Georgia morning and poured it straight into a dining room. Bright smiles, cheerful energy, and comfort food coming out of the kitchen like rays of pure happiness — this place is the island’s little dose of daily joy.

The staff deserves an immediate spotlight. They greet you like you’ve been coming there for years, even if you wandered in for the first time with sleepy eyes and coffee on your mind. They’re quick with refills, kind with conversation, and somehow always know exactly what you need before you ask — the kind of service that makes you want to stay for “just one more cup.”

As for the food, Sunshine lives up to its name there too. The breakfast classics hit all the right notes: fluffy eggs, perfectly crisp bacon, golden pancakes, and biscuits that taste like they were baked with love and maybe just a wink of island magic. Everything arrives hot, fresh, and with that homemade quality you can’t fake. Even the simplest dishes shine — nothing fussy, nothing overdone, just really good food made by people who care.

The atmosphere ties it all together. It’s cozy without feeling cramped, colorful without feeling busy, and welcoming without trying too hard. There’s an easy charm to it — the kind of place where locals settle into their regular booth, families gather for weekend breakfast, and travelers stumble in and immediately wonder why their own hometown doesn’t have a spot this sweet.

In short, Sunshine Restaurant is exactly what it promises to be: warm, bright, friendly, and delicious. Whether you need a cheerful breakfast, a comforting lunch, or just a little pick-me-up for your day, this Wilmington Island gem delivers every time.

A plate full of Sunshine? Yes, please.

This is a great breakfast place!!! Food is delicious and the service is superb!!!! Definitely would go back when I’m in the area. Locals eat here and come back regularly, as some are called by name.

One of the best breakfast restaurants ever. I don’t know how they do it but the egg sandwich is amazing and the two egg breakfast is huge. It is not on the menu and is a secret special- the 5 Egg Omelet. Unbelievable and delicious. You will be full for sure. The restaurant is very laid back and the staff is extremely friendly. Also, the weekend buffet is great ! This place is awesome, we eat there all the time

This place has a buffet. However, we ordered off the menu. The customer service was friendly. They did not have boiled eggs, which my son loves. He is on the spectrum. The place was full, but they accommodated him by getting his food out first despite not having the boiled eggs, which I appreciated. 2 sausages came with the meal, and bacon was in the shrimp and grits. My hubby loved it.

Good and service was amazing!!! Prices very reasonable for portions. My meal was about $10 including the up-charge for hash browns and cheese in my scrambled eggs. Came in for the buffet but it’s only on weekends (my fault for not checking the website). Definitely found my go to spot when I’m on the island!!!

Wonderful food and great service with a smile and genuine caring about the customer. Made us feel at home the 1st morning so we went back every day while we were there. They just got nicer and nicer. Buffet on Saturday was great. If we are ever in Savannah again, this will definitely be the place to go.

You want classic, simple, diner-style breakfast at fair price? Sunrise is the way.

The adage of wanting something done well, done cheaply, and done quickly ends with “you can pick 2 of those” bit somehow Sunrise nails all 3.

The food here is great. The staff here are wonderful and friendly. One critique I have is the maintenance, need to clean the ceiling ac vents and replace ceiling tiles. Just spruce it up a bit.

I had the shrimp and grits a few weeks ago and it was ok, I could have done without the bell peppers; it was too much, overwhelming flavor.

This morning I had the Tybee Omelet…it was really good. Perhaps try adding a hollandaise sauce to the menu item, I think it would work really well on this omelet.

The coffee is really good too.

When you enter a breakfast Cafe and see tables of senior citizens, you know it will be good and well priced. We found this place on vacation and loved it. Generous portions and well prepared. The staff were very nice and attentive. Would recommend highly.
