Reviews
The staff here are fantastic: friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm — they make you feel right at home.
Food-wise, everything was solid. I ordered the Featherlight Breakfast (1 egg, 1 link sausage, 1 pancake) and it was good overall — nice portions and tasty. The only small note is that the pancake seemed cooked in a little too much oil, which made it slightly heavier than expected. My wife got the Stuffed French Toast and it was OUTSTANDING — easily one of the best we’ve ever had. Perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. The cost was reasonable, too.
Highly recommend Sunrise Cafe for a lovely breakfast spot. We’ll definitely be back (and going straight for that French toast next time)!
But aside from that the food was fantastic. our server was very nice but fairly absent. The atmosphere was very very nice, very clean, very accessible to anyone in any physical situation.
My wife had breakfast tacos: excellent!
My child had regular French toast: excellent!!
I had there Sunny Sammy(biscuits and gravy with bacon eggs and sausage patties all together): perfect!!!
Portions were ample and satisfying, prices are reasonable/ good especially based on the quality of the food.. look at it this way: you could throw every dollar you have at Ihop’s and you won’t get food as good as sunrise on Ihops best day.
This place is definitely going to put a notch in Sykes business.
If I was to give constructive criticism to the management
1: urgency needs to be expressed to your staff about getting waiting customers seated.. I watched a lot of money walk away today with open tables and bar space that would have worked just fine.
2: offer your waiting customers coffee or water while waiting.. get them on the hook to feel loyal because of your generosity.
I will 100% be returning with both friends and family.
The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The food was great. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and not greasy at all. This is the kind of breakfast that fills you up without making you feel heavy and sluggish the rest of the day.
The cozy decor gives the place such a warm, inviting feel. The cute yellow walls and the little details is part of the breakfast experience. I’m so glad this place is here.
I think they need some time to hone in on the quality over quantity of items offered right now. Still enjoyed our little bit of an upgrade from typical diner experience.
All the staff was friendly but I know they were definitely swamped with the new curious customers. Shout out to Angela, she was pretty on top of making sure we were attended to!
Coffee was good! Enjoyed the creamer being farm branded vs coffee mate.
Brisket a little chewy.
Potatoes – order them extra crispy they were pretty soft.
Chicken waffle felt average, chicken had some spice and I’d say based on the demographics of Kalispell it might be too much for some folk.

Some other fun things to note! Handicap accessibility on every door.
The bathrooms have a fancy sink set up, so for the older generation might cause a little shock having all the amenities in one faucet.
Also I found the lock on the door to be hard to grab/ lock with the bar handle somewhat blocking it. Nothing major but an irritation to maybe look into for the managers in charge.
Good work team and keep it up.
Full pancake review below The Good and Not So Good
The Good:
-Large Portions (big enough to share IMO)
-Friendly staff and service
-Bright and open feel
-Plenty of parking
-Scrambled eggs with cheddar were done well
-Syrup served warm
The Not So Good:
-Hashbrowns were a little cold when served
-No crisp on Hashbrowns and maybe a little undercooked
-Pancakes rely heavily on the flavor of the syrup
-Butter is served cold and hard (personally not a fan)
The Pancakes
Similar to the look and feel of pancakes found at Cracker Barrel. If you like Cracker Barrel pancakes, chances are you will enjoy these. Maybe not. Three good sized cakes come with the buttermilk pancake order. They are quite spongy and soak up the warm syrup very well. There is a slight flavor to them but you’ll need to use more syrup for actual flavor. They cut fine and keep form well.
Overall, I wasn’t a big fan of the pancakes. I won’t be a regular customer but will come back in a couple of months to give it another try. I did hear several people that seem to really enjoy it. Definitely give it a try and see what you think.
Couple of things I overheard:
“Spicier than I expected but I really like it”
“Better than IHOP” – I definitely disagree with this one based on flavor of pancakes and hashbrowns but it was a couple dollars cheaper.
