I visit Johnsburg 1-2 times per year and I always work it into my schedule to stop in for a beer which turns into several. Friendly regulars and bartenders. Random people usually give me money to request songs on the jukebox for them which is pretty cool.

Sunnyside Tavern is a “locals only” Bar. I have lived in Johnsburg for 13 years and every time I go to Sunnyside I get treated rudely by the staff and most of the regular patrons. My last visit sealed the deal for me. The older male bartender was rude and dismissive even after a very generous tip. A bar is supposed to be a place where people can go to find community and good times, this place seems to cater only to its regulars and has seemed very unwelcoming to non regulars. Very disappointed with this establishment. Zero stars.

This place is excellent! Great bartenders & owners. Great drinks, friendly staff and plenty of events going on. When it comes to charity, Sunnyside gives! From fundraisers like Shop with a Cop, Johnsburg Lions Charity Cart Crawl, Meat Raffles for the local wrestling teams & much, much more. This is the type of place that will have free chili during football and have bus trips to baseball games. When in Johnsburg stop and have a cold one!

What a delightful spot. Just what you want in a neighborhood bar. Stop by and meet some new friends. Love this place EXCEPT when someone jacks up the jutebox at 4 in the afternoon when everyone else is watching the news. We just left. Not everyone has your taste in music.
