Sunny’s Sushi has several locations – this is the one by Woodrow Bean Transmountain. My husband and I went for dinner the night before Valentine’s Day fully expecting there would be a long wait. We were seated right away and I love the atmosphere. From the outside, it looks small but that’s definitely not the case. Our server was very attentive throughout. They brought out miso soup and pickled cucumbers while we waited for our appetizer. We ordered the fried gyoza, it came out hot and fresh. I had the Lion King roll which was delicious and my husband had the teriyaki steak and chicken with fried rice. It was a generous portion, he had to bring the rest home. We ended our dinner with the yuzu lemon cake which had a refreshing tart taste. We’ll definitely be back and I’m looking forward to trying their strawberry matcha cake next!

Greetings y’all. My server was Mari, attentive and professional. Maria made it a positive experience along with atmosphere. The food was okay. Not because of taste and presentation (both were good). It’s that i ordered the lunch tray of chicken and steak with fried rice. The fried rice was iffy at best. The protein was flavorful enough. I believed i knew what I ordered. It came with a shrimp which was more batter and tail than meat. It’s as if the mashed it to elongate it before applying the batter or coating. The soup was good. The Cucumber Kimshi was tasty enoough. Over all more of a positive than negative due to the server being attentive, yet not overly so, and atmosphere. That being said probably won’t be back soon.

Alexa was amazing in every way. She assisted us with the menu, helped determine the type of food to order, and provided insights on the flavors and how they would taste. Oh my goodness… she was wonderful!

How can people think that this place is great if the actual sushi quality is below average? I get that the atmosphere and service is very good. However, the fish was not fresh. My spicy salmon roll was 90% rice and cucumber. The server tried to pass off a cucumber and honey infused ponzu sauce for Korean Kimchi. I paid over $30 without tip for 2 rolls that I would have paid 1/2 that in Florida. Food quality must be first for any restaurant! I feel bad for El Paso residents that don’t know what makes a sushi restaurant good.

I loved this place. he service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about every dish on the menu.

The sushi itself was absolutely outstanding. Each piece was crafted with precision, beautifully presented, and bursting with fresh flavor. The fish melted in my mouth, and the balance of rice, seasoning, and texture was flawless. Standout favorites included the chef’s omakase selection, which showcased unique flavor pairings I’ve never experienced anywhere else.

What impressed me most was the attention to detail—not just in the food, but in the little touches: perfectly brewed green tea, artful plating, and even the pacing of the meal. It felt less like dinner and more like a true culinary experience.

I can honestly say this is the best sushi I’ve ever had, and I’ll be recommending it to anyone who loves authentic, high-quality Japanese cuisine.
