To be clear, the staff was not rude at all, but we constantly felt overlooked. We spent over two hours at the restaurant, not because we were lingering, but because service moved at a frustratingly slow pace. We rarely call servers over because we don’t like doing that, but here we felt that it was the only way to get any attention at all.
We had a late dinner and only had one drink each at the terrace bar before being seated. Once at the table, I ordered a glass of red wine to have with the meat, and it never arrived. We also asked for bread to come with the appetizer, it eventually came, but not with the appetizer as requested.
The lack of attentiveness really impacted the experience, which is disappointing because service is a huge part of dining out for us.
That said, the food was absolutely amazing. Everything we had was perfection and worth both the hype and the price. Even though I usually love mushrooms, that particular dish was a bit too vinegary for my taste, but aside from that, the food was outstanding.
Despite the service issues, I would come back and give it another chance purely because the food was so good. I just hope the service improves to match the quality of the kitchen.
Aside from the stellar service, the food was incredible, as were the drinks. The apps, the pasta, the rolls, the steak, the desserts (I’ll be dreaming of the honey ice cream).. every single course was outstanding. We couldn’t have asked for anything better!
Sunny’s completely blew us away with their professionalism and the way every employee clearly values their guests. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and the positive energy from the staff is contagious. Everyone seemed happy to be there.
The music created such a fun vibe, and the atmosphere felt lively yet intimate at the same time.
Thank you all for making our evening so special. We truly can’t say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend.
*also, the complimentary hot apple cider from the hostess while we waited for our table was delicious and another great touch!
First, I didn’t realize we were seated outside on an unusually cold Miami night, but they saved the moment with the coziest blankets for the table, which was such a thoughtful touch. Service was… mixed. Our main waiter was just okay and couldn’t really make strong recommendations, but the overall service machine was in full motion: constant plate changes, silverware refreshes, managers checking in, and courses flowing seamlessly. You can tell they run a tight ship. They were also very eager to turn the table once my friend blew out her birthday candle, which felt a little rushed.
Now to the food. We tried both East Coast and West Coast oysters—fine, but nothing memorable (the sauces were the real stars). The steak tartare was good but leaned too salty. The much-hyped Caesar salad? Pretty underwhelming.
The Parker House rolls came slightly overcooked on top, but dipping them into the sauce from the crab agnolotti was a great move. They also come with butter drizzled in honey, which was a nice contrast.
For the mains, the dry-aged ribeye had some tough pieces on the edges, though the rest was enjoyable. Absolutely pair your steak with the russet potatoes and bone marrow vinaigrette, that combo is elite. Skip the potato butter, though; it lacked flavor.
The agnolotti was just okay and honestly made me wish I had ordered the duck cavatelli instead. Cocktail-wise, I wish I had taken a photo of the happy hour menu because I ordered a gin drink while waiting that wasn’t available once we were seated. For a gin girl, the main menu felt limiting beyond martinis.
Dessert was the ice cream sandwich, which sounded better than it tasted. It was essentially ice cream in a croissant…good, but not “steakhouse finale” good.
Overall, Sunny’s isn’t bad at all. It’s beautiful, well-run, and clearly popular for a reason. But for a place with this much hype? I left feeling like it didn’t quite live up to the legend.
The service truly stood out: everyone was incredibly friendly, authentic and genuinely pleasant. You can really feel the great energy of the place. Can’t wait to come back.
For our mains, we shared the Hanger Steak, the Duroc Pork Chop, and the Corn Agnolotti. Everything was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked, but the Duroc Pork Chop was my personal favorite. My mom, who isn’t usually a fan of seafood, surprisingly loved the Corn Agnolotti (served with blue crab)—it was a huge hit.
We added sides of French Fries and Grilled Asparagus. You have to order the Potato Butter; it was crazy good, especially when paired with the fries.
We finished the night with the Chocolate Cake and the Banana Toffee Cheesecake. Both were very good, but my dad really enjoyed the cheesecake. The cocktail program was great too—my dad was a fan of the Jailbreak, I loved the Sunny’s Old Fashioned, and my mom discovered she likes Espresso Martinis.
Great food and a perfect Thanksgiving atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
The restaurant itself is stunning. From the elegant interior to the charming garden featuring a striking large tree at its center. Sunny’s has definitely earned a spot in our rotation, and we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended for a fantastic night out.
Our waitress, Ashley, truly made the experience exceptional. She took the time to explain how the terrace menu worked compared to the main dining room and made us feel completely comfortable. Her friendliness, professionalism, and upbeat personality immediately gained our trust. She went above and beyond the entire evening, and we felt genuinely cared for.
On top of that, the ambiance, music, service, drinks, and food were all fantastic — everything exceeded our expectations.
We will definitely be back, and we hope to have Ashley take care of us again. Highly recommended!
We began with crisp champagne at the bar outside before we were escorted to our table. The bartender was knowledgeable personable and attentive.
We started our meal with impeccably fresh oysters and mignonettes, the kind that instantly set the tone for a great evening. A bright, crisp endive salad with candied hazelnut, creamy feta and light honey vinaigrette followed, perfectly balanced and refreshing, alongside an excellent duck terrine that was rich, silky, and beautifully paired with a mango mustard.
The main event did not disappoint: a fabulous ribeye steak, expertly cooked and full of flavor, paired with a smooth green peppercorn sauce and classic potatoes wedges done just right—comforting, indulgent, and worthy of a true steakhouse. And then came dessert: a banana foster cheesecake that is genuinely to die for—decadent, perfectly sweet, and unforgettable.
The service elevated the entire experience. Karen was a superb server—warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional. The sommelier was extremely gracious. Overall, the service was excellent—seamless without ever feeling intrusive. Loved my experience here and I will be back.
