I came for dinner the other night and I found it really awkward that nobody from the FOH greeted us. That’s not the best way to start a meal experience.
Food was good, especially the grilled salmon and the tofu and vegetables salad. The dressing of the salad was spot on!
What i found disappointing was the Hokkien noodles. Pretty plain flavor.
The Shiraz from coonawarra was pretty good for the price 🙂
Service was awful. We asked the Waitress what the salmon would come with, and her answer was “i believe with some vegetables but im really not sure”….. what kind of asnwer is that from someone that should known the menu? …
The other young waitress never put on a smile, and would serve the dishes without announcing them. She just placed them on the corner of the table and walked away quietly.
To be honest with you, I would not recommend it. There are much better thai restaurants around

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. The chef’s warmth and passion really stand out, and you can tell he takes pride in every single dish. Watching the food being freshly prepared in the wok made the experience feel even more special.

Great Lunch Experience at Sunan 9 Thai Restaurant!
On a Thursday afternoon, we chose to have lunch at Sunan 9 Thai Restaurant, conveniently located at d’Albora Marina, right at the corner of Nelson Bay Road and Stockton St. The exact address is 4/3 Stockton St, Nelson Bay NSW 2315.
We ordered the Pad Se Ew, Red Curry with steamed rice, Barramundi in Lemon Sauce, Tom Yum Soup, and Coke. We were also keen to try the deep-fried ice cream, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available that day. Each dish was beautifully presented and generously portioned.
We opted to sit on the outer side of the restaurant with a view of the marina, which added to the amazing ambiance. The food was delicious and well worth the visit. Ordering was easy, as we made our way to the main counter, and the wait time from sitting down to finishing our lunch was minimal. We arrived around 1 PM and were out by 1:45 PM.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience! Highly recommend visiting for great food and a lovely view!

Great view, delicious food, and generous portions. The wine is surprisingly cheap! I expected the food to be more Westernized due to its location, but the flavors are still authentically Thai and tasty. The service is great, with the warm smiles and friendliness typical of Thai hospitality, and the owner, she is really lovely and welcoming.
