Solid service, good prices, great food.
Got the duck soup, which was amazing. Pork egg rolls were hot and tasty too.
Friend got the pho, which he liked too. His iced coffee was a little sweet though, and nothing too memorable.
Just a little hard to understand the owner.

I am a pho enthusiast and had to try out this pho place while visiting Iowa City. Do not fall for the rating. The waitress/owner is constantly shouting or yelling at someone in the back while our food is being prep. We waited 40 minutes for them to even bring out our appetizer and then followed by pho. Pho broth is horrible and taste awful. Very poor customer service as well, the waitress isn’t friendly or very polite.

I took my daughter to eat here while I was visiting Iowa City in 2022. I’ve been living in Southeast Asia for about three years now, and I consider myself to be a decent judge Southeast Asian soups. I guess I was expecting what I was used to with pho but it was actually pretty good even though it did not taste the same as it does over here, it was really good. I definitely recommend the restaurant because the food is good and the service is great, it’s clean and comfortable. Is it weird that I was shocked that I paid like $15 for my bowl of soup when I’m used to paying a dollar for it over here? Lol All jokes aside, Sun Cafe has good pho, so come check it out!

They are very friendly.It’s family manage restaurant so dont expect to much coz sometimes they forget your order but you just have to remind them.Foods was good and tasty.Bathrooms are clean and that’s another proof that what they served you is clean.

I tried the Pho Chicken and the Coffee. Food tasted great and fresh, has authentic flavors too. Coffee is a little expensive but taste really strong.
Gave it a 4 star because there was a slight cleanliness issue at the specific table I sat at.
If you’re looking for good pho, I think Saigon’s Corner, which is 7-10 minutes away, has better pho for about the same pricing. They have bigger portions and stronger flavor.

This place is amazing! The duck was awesome, it was juicy, smoky, crispy skin, and delicious. I’ve had duck lots of places, including the Beijing Duck Restaurant, and this is better. In addition, we had spicy squid, lemongrass (curry) chicken, seafood pho, and noodles with seafood. All of it was great. We also had the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was thick, sweet, and reminded me of coffee ice cream. We’ll be coming back soon!

This little Gem was wonderful to eat at. When I walked in the door, I felt welcomed. The Hostess was most pleasant and gave a little history about their establishment and culture. The ambience was calm and filled with the feeling of being home. The food was excellent and filling. Prices were non-threatening. I definitely will be coming back for more. U have to check this place out. It’s nice and simple. U will love it!!

The server did’nt come to get an order for more than 10 mins. so I went to the counter to order. And while Inwas waiting for my order, I saw a cockroach for the first time since I moved to Iowa. Really freaked out. I wouldn’t be back here ever tho the taste was good.
