The food was just as good as I remember from the 90’s. The more open floor plan allows you to see more of the model train. My only critique would be to update the menu prices on Google. Will definitely be back.

My family is so thrilled that Sumpter Junction is back open. We went Sunday afternoon and the wait staff was hopping and working as a team! Our waitress Addy was spectacular and our food was everything we remembered and more! Thank you Luke for giving us back such a memory filled restaurant!!

Last time we went it was fantastic! Our little girl absolutely LOVED the train! She was really excited to go again, but saw it was temporarily closed. Hope you guys open again soon!

I have heard good things about this place for quite some time. However until today, I’ve been unable to experience for myself. Their hours have just eluded my arrivals. They are only open from 07:00-15:00 every day of the week. Not sure why they close so early. The food is exemplary and Baker City does not have many night time food choices at a normal dinner hour, especially this close to i84. I’m sure the freeway traffic could support a closing time around 20:00 or even 21:00.
But if you’re around for breakfast or lunch, this is a nice stop.

I love visiting this little diner like place. Perfect for a simple bite, with an adorable electric train that circles the entire restaurant. If the booths are available you get a perfect shot of them driving by every few minutes. The food is wonderful and family friendly, with lots of different diner type styles.

The restaurant itself is cute. It has a train track around the top with a small city with caves and all. I hate to say that we didn’t enjoy our breakfast at all. We had really gummy biscuits and the gravy was so spicy that my family couldn’t eat it. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly and she did a good job keeping our coffee cups full.

Good food, friendly service. It was fun to watch the kids light up every time the train went on its way around. Definitely the place to stop and eat when you are in Baker OR.

The best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. I had the biscuits and gravy with the eggs and breaded chicken on top, I forget what it’s called, it was cooked perfectly! If I pass through Baker City again I’ll certainly eat there again.

Breakfast was very good, and the proportions were great.
The train traveling around the restaurant was fun and unique.
Service was just ok. Food took longer to arrive than we expected, but wasn’t terribly long.
My one negative comment is that the restaurant had an unpleasant smell upon entering, and remained. It should have smelled like the food cooking, but it didn’t, which was odd because they were very busy.

The chef salad is not the specialty here (day old tomato, american cheese and lunch meat in strips), however the chicken fried bacon breakfast plate got rave reviews from the hubby.
