1st time eating here- beat my expectations even though it was recommended to me. Very tasty and fresh. Packed up 11 meals for lunch to-go and all was correct, fresh, and still warm. Will definitely go again soon!

This was our first and last time trying Sumu Hibachi & Steak, and it was absolutely horrible.
I was supposed to get yum yum sauce, or so I thought. There was no label, and what I assumed was yum yum sauce turned out to be some spicy sauce meant for sushi. I poured it all over my meal and completely ruined a $20 plate of food. Yes, I get that pouring it on was my mistake — but when sauces aren’t labeled, that becomes the restaurant’s responsibility too.
To make matters worse, their customer service was absurd. Instead of being understanding, they were rude and dismissive. The only thing they offered was two yum yum sauces, which makes zero sense when my food was already ruined. What was I supposed to put it on?
Then it got even worse — one of the employees yelled at me, and another hung up on me. Completely unacceptable.
On top of all that:
One soup was so spicy I couldn’t even eat it
The other soup wasn’t even what I ordered
Overall, the food was bad, the order was wrong, and the customer service was downright disrespectful.
Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Sumu Hibachi & Steak. We will never be back.

Best Sushi Ever! I had never experienced deep fried sushi and oops! I fell in love!!!
But it was okay- my boyfriend was busy falling in love with the hibachi Steak, shrimp and chicken dinner!!
Great food and great prices- topped off with friendly service.
This place is conveniently located next to Publix in Haines city- don’t go shopping hungry- stop in and fill up on the best sushi ever!!

Truly impressed. Decided to give this place a try today. I ordered takeout. The service was fast. Was there for around 10 minutes. They quality of the food is great. I got Hibachi steak with fried rice. It comes with salad. I added on a side order of noddles. Everything cause around $13. The steak was cooked perfectly. They give you a good proportion. Definitely will be back to try their sushi. This is a perfect alternative if you can’t afford Kobe’s and other high end Japanese steakhouses.

I ordered uber eats from this location & received old hard & over cooked food(rice very hard meats over cooked, taste not there). & I’ve actually ordered from this place about 2 times before with no issues, so I thought I’d give them a courtesy call to see if I can just drive over and get it replaced no problem (ALTHOUGH i paid extra fees to get it delivered faster to be more fresh). I asked really nice and sweet also (i promise i always meet people with grace & respect). However, I was met in return with immediate deference & aggression from the chef/manager & that was super alarming enough for me to leave a review. Not only that the food is completely inedible.
I’m very careful about leaving bad Google reviews because I respect peoples business. Unless it’s really good, it takes a lot of of me to leave a review. But the way the manager mistreated me at this location was disgusting & I thought I’d warn anyone who would ever want to order from this place.
I ordered today at 12pm (just incase hire ups needs to look into who handled me this way, he also would not give me his name). He proceeds to yell at me that he knows the food was fresh & that my food being bad has nothing to do with them because i didn’t order there physically, i ordered online. Which was absolutely crazy to me because you are the company who hired this 3rd party to deliver the food you cook & represent. Therefore you are just as responsible.
The fact that I was going to offer to drive over and exchange the food after already paying for delivery fees and extra fees to get it faster and fresher, and I still wasn’t helped by this restaurant just blows my mind away, im highly disappointed. & I will be taking this further. I was not able to eat my food, get it remade, get refunded or any help for this.

Ordered this on Uber and they only let me rate the driver, so rating the food here. In a word, disgusting; threw it away after a mouthful. The sushi was ‘warm and wet’, looking nothing like the website pics. I included both delivered and website pics for comparison of what I assume was the tornado roll I ordered. Couldn’t tell as it just looked like someone dumped fake seafood on a warm and mushy avocado roll (didn’t even get the sauce from the pic). Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Even the pickled ginger tasted like a dishcloth

Good food and value! Had the chicken.bento box and you get a lot of food for just 9 bucks! The atmosphere is not high class by any means and it has limited seating available, but I’d still recommend it for the food and prices. Parking is easy because it’s part of a strip mall. Good location close to Lake Eva Park.

This is the nastiest Asian restaurant I ever bought something from. I went in and something told me to walk away but since in the reviews there are people that are used to eating in nasty places I continue ordering. Someone was talking to me and I couldn’t see the person. It took about 5 minutes for the lady with no front teeth to come to the front. So I gave them a chance and still ordered a soup . Came back in 10 minutes and saw the people inside the kitchen area eating McDonald’s a sure sign to get away but the already had my money . I tasted the soup and it had a weird tangy flavor that the soup is not supposed to have. So I asked the Gods to help me on this one due to me having a long work week and can’t call out. After a few hours strong heartburn woke me up. I took some pills and hoped to fall asleep soon due to only having a few hours to sleep. Yup who knows what the heck that recipe was.
