Food was good and the cook was wonderful. I tipped him as well.
OUR SERVER ALIANA NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO BE A BETTER SERVER. COMING UP TO PEOPLE WHILE THEY ARE EATING TO PAY IS RUDE. GOT MY CALIFORNIA ORDER WRONG. I WANTED A HANDROLL. THE SODA SHE GAVE US FOR REFILL WAS OLD. SOMEONE PLEASE TEACH THE GIRL SOME SERVER MANNERS. WE DIDNT PAY THIS MUCH FOR A BAD EXPERIENCE. I have this family that comes in every morning for coffee and they recommended me to try their job out. Went with the girls for our monthly dinner. Loved the personal atmosphere with our own corner room. Of course loved having my friend/customer, Cheif Robert cook for us. Food was amazing and cooked well. Definitely recommend.

Sticky tables, elbows literally stuck to the surface, and even the pepper holder was sticky. Gross. Nothing felt clean. We came in as a party of six to cool off and enjoy hibachi, but it was 81 degrees inside! Bathrooms had no locks. I asked for a knife and was told they do not have any. A restaurant with no knives.
This place badly needs a makeover. Even the wall art was crooked and no one seemed to care. I feel bad for the staff working in these conditions. When you are spending over $50 per person, you expect more. I usually leave positive reviews, but this was a mess. I will not be coming back.
Leaving this review in hopes they get things together. They are in a prime location and have great potential. I genuinely wish them the best. I will change my review if they ever get things right.

I don’t normally write reviews often, but coming to this restaurant for the first time for dinner on Tuesday was not the move apparently. I came with my husband, a friend, and her two kids under five years-old (4 and infant under 1 year) under the guise of the good reviews. We arrived at 6:30 for my birthday dinner. Waited for 30 minutes to sit. Then waited about an hour and a half for service essentially – they came sporadically with drinks, soup, and salad. They admitted they were short staffed due to the weather, which is understandable, but at the same time — you should be giving patrons an option of whether they would like to continue service or not knowing you might not be able to keep up with service in a timely manner. Especially when children involved and not knowing how long the wait would be. The chef did an express cooked meal and finished cooking within 15-20 minutes. My nephew was excited to try and catch the food but I assume they don’t do it at this establishment or didn’t do so due to the time constraints.The food was subpar and we left the restaurant at around 9:45. I also wound up not informing them of my birthday due to an additional $5 charge. To top it off, they didn’t comp anything for the meal, which I feel like is a bit unfair for the customers all things considered, but I will say I am a bit biased due to the events that transpired. We were charged for 5 people, when the infant didn’t partake in anything and gratuity was included in the total bill. I’m not certain we’ll return back here

Why do we continue to pay money for a service when our time is not valued, we are treated unfairly, time not respected and the owners do not require any standards of their employees conduct or their own. Now this ia not racial because 4 different tables and all mixed. Not loud but respectful families celebrating. Now I am already paying over 1000.00 to be treated amd talked to like my money dont matter. But I will not tolerate anything less than your best! Mainly because I pay for it, and no I dont like it so I can go home and make better food and keep my money. All these business need to know there is no you without us.

I am incredibly disappointed. We have been going here for 20 yrs and it has continued to go down hill.
First, we were not treated at our table for over 20 minutes. Then it took an extensive amount of time for drinks.
When we finally got to order our food, we ordered sushi appetizers and meals.
The appetizers were not brought out until after our dinner had already started cooking.
There was long hair in my son’s rice (it was immediately upon being served so was not from the table.
I ordered a filet and when they were putting food on the plates they said I got a number 11 which is filet and shrimp. I do not eat seafood, nor do I order meals by number. I order by name. Rather than him say ok, he showed me the paper that said 11. I told him I do not eat seafood and told him to give it to my husband who already had shrimp, filet, lobster and sushi and did not need extra food.
There was literally NO show at all. That is really part of a hibachi experience.
Our server did not clear plates from our table. We ended up having to stack the plates by the wall next to where my daughter was sitting to make room.
Mid meal, 3 people needed water and our server had not come around in a long time. Finally, when he did come it took another 10 or 15 minutes for water.
Then when we were done eating we were eating for an extended period of time for boxes, then for the check, then to be cashed out.
We walked in the door at approximately 7pm and did not leave until after 9pm. We have never been there for more than an hr in 20 yrs.

This was by far such a horrible experience. On top of it all, the bill was $350 eith gratuity. Between there being NO show and the poor services, they did not earn 18% gratuity. I spent about 10 yrs waiting tables and always try to give the benefit of the doubt but everything was absolutely terrible from the moment we walked in until we left. Not sure we will return.

This is one of the best Japanese Steak Houses I have ever been to! The showmanship of the cook, the service itself, the prices, and the quality of the food were beyond superb! If you are in the area, definitely stop in and give them a go, they’ll give you a show! Thanks, Sumo for an all-around great experience.

We had an incredible dining experience! The food (Daily Special – Beef, Chicken & Shrimp) was absolutely delicious and expertly seasoned, making every bite a delight. Our server was attentive and made sure we never ran low on sauces or drinks. The highlight of the night was definitely the hibachi chef, who not only cooked our meal to perfection but also entertained us with his impressive skills and fun tricks. We can’t wait to return for another unforgettable meal! Highly recommend!

Sumo is a good hibachi steak house. The food was great and so was the chef. The service was good too. The private grill rooms were nice although a bit cramped. All around a good place to eat.

It is one of the best Japanese steak houses. First time visiting, and I must say… “Wow!” Great menu, drinks, and so much food with a Teppanyaki meal. Large, fresh red steaks, nice size lobster tails, shrimp, and scallops! I’m sure the chicken is just as good, but I can’t say since we didn’t order it. Robert was our showman, who was incredible. They have a nice birthday dessert of pineapple, lei, and music. It’s much better than a scope of ice cream.
It’s definitely one of the best we’ve eaten at. I’m looking forward to returning. Recommend reservations on weekends.
