This was my first time trying Sum’na Eat and it is delicious. I had never tried any collard greens before and let me tell you, these were absolutely delicious. I had the catfish and okra, both of which were great as well. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

BEST RESTAURANT IN JOPLIN! The owner St Louis and her side kick Lil Bit is awesome! Food is AMAZING, customer service is spot on. This restaurant is a MUST in Joplin. I drive 2 hours to eat here. Do yourself a favor and eat here for some good flavor!

We went to Sum’ns Eat for dinner, it was great! They were so friendly and had a great menu with lots of choices.
I decided to try the meatloaf… AMAZING!!
If they have the meatloaf I will probably not get anything different!
Not your standard meatloaf. It has a roast beef like flavor and comes with an amazing gravy. I also had the white rice with the same gravy, so good! The butter corn had a unique flavor too, also great!
Others in my party had the chicken rice soup, fried okra, and onion rings… no complaints, all compliments. The sweet cornbread was good too!
The place was clean and they were super friendly.
I highly recommend and will certainly go again!

First time coming to Sum’na Eat in Joplin MO and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious food! Great customer service the owner had such a great vibe and taste in music. That catfish tastes so good makes you wanna slap yo momma! My guy got the meatloaf, green beans, and Mac n cheese. I got the fried catfish, corn bread, smashed potato with cheese added gravy, baked beans like I’ve never had em before! Five stars, would recommend!! Definitely coming back for a late night date again. They’re open later than 10pm! 10:00pm-3:00am for any late night eaters

The best soul food I’ve ever had! The smashed potatoes were amazing and such an interesting concept. The chicken was juicy and has so much flavor. The cake was moist and delicious. Every member of the staff was super nice and the lady running the joint was so upbeat and excited to talk about the food. It was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to go back!

It has been the number of years since I’ve had catfish this good. The coating was totally superb. The fish were medium to large fillets going to meet you as white and tender. Sweet cornbread was excellent. Macaroni and cheese was good. Onion rings were very good flavor. This is the best southern style cooking I’ve had anywhere in the midwest and I’ve lived on the coast about four different times. Let me sum it up in three Southern words…. “OFF THE CHAIN”!

Sum’na Eat Soul Food Kitchen surprised me and took me back when a neighborhood restaurant was a little spot where everyone can break bread. It felt like how the old days were for me. Just a very beautiful feeling to experience. The one of the best parts was being able to play board games and genuinely enjoy a good meal while listening to soul music. I hope the Joplin enjoys this place as much as I did. The catfish was delicious too.

I was here in Joplin, MO, for work when I found this restaurant. With a name like Sum’na Eat, I had to check it out. Honestly, I’m not big on fried foods anymore, so I didn’t enjoy the chicken as much as I wanted to. It was good but the vegetables were even better!! It has a great atmosphere and great customer service!

A hidden gem, that is worth every penny. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Anne was especially incredible. I had the smothered fried chicken (two thighs), collard greens, potato salad, and a slice of the butter pecan cake. Everything was exceptional—they even offered a free margarita for dining in! I cannot praise this place enough, make sure to stop by!!!
