We had a wonderful dine-in experience at Sula Indian Restaurant on Commercial Drive while celebrating my sister’s birthday. We weren’t aware of the waiting time, but Toral, the front staff, was extremely kind and helpful in arranging seating for us as soon as possible. Really appreciated her support.

Once we were seated, our server Bikram did an amazing job guiding us with food selections. His recommendations were spot on! We ordered the Railway Pav Sliders (vada pav – 3 pcs) and they were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We also had Paneer Kadai, Butter Naan, and Vegetarian Biryani—everything was fresh, mouthwatering, and perfectly cooked.

For drinks, we tried the Mango Lassi and Bhangra, both of which were refreshing and tasty.

The atmosphere and interior are very pleasant and add to the overall dining experience. Great food, great service, and a perfect place for celebrations. Highly recommend!

We went to Sula for my birthday and had a great experience. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and the service was impressively fast. The whole team was super friendly and made the night feel special.

I’m really glad I tried the Dine Out Vancouver menu — it was a great way to experience a variety of dishes. The bao buns were unique, nothing like I’ve had anywhere else. The cocktails were fancy and delicious too — I had the Aperol Negroni, which is a must-try if you’re a Negroni fan.

Honestly, everything we tried was amazing except for the pistachio cake on the dessert menu, which didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic birthday dinner and definitely a spot worth visiting again.

Delicious Indian food. Great quality curries which are above average. Their takeout had really nice custom packaging. Their naan was one of the best I’ve had, large in size, with a nice crispiness on the outside while being soft inside with a faint milky fragrance to it. The lamb korma was fantastic bursting with spices, creaminess, and richness. The Saag paneer and butter chicken tasted amazing. The cauliflower and potato were perfectly cooked. Would definitely get their food again.

Before I start the entire review and breakdown step-by-step, I just want to say I still do recommend this place now first off. I ordered the Dahi puri, madras chicken, naan and tandoori roti. The servers were exceptional. They were very kind and definitely were not rude. They were so pleasant which was the best part of the entire experience. The dahi puri was crispy and fresh and full of flavor would definitely recommend after that, though I noticed that the food that I ordered as in the main dishes, took around 50 minutes to arrive, which made it seem like I was waiting there without any food for a very long time so I would keep that in mind if you’re visiting and have paid for parking and are in a hurry. The roti and the non-were exceptional. I’ve actually never had such soft roti and non-before so I was so so impressed but the madras chicken was on the shower side the curry itself. I was expecting it to be salty and with more coconut and the flavor is more blended in but weirdly it was I guess a different style so if you don’t like that style, then that probably won’t work for you, but I would say it was still good. It was just a different style of curry. Also keep in mind there were chunks of onion so it wasn’t really blended in fully again. It depends on how you like your curry, but definitely the overall experience was good and then on top of that, they acknowledged, I guess a specific server acknowledge that the food took too long to arrive and also apologized multiple times and without even me asking, provided a free dessert which made it seem like they were so accountable for the long wait for the food.

The ambiance is truly captivating with its vibrant decor, featuring intricate wall art like the depiction of Shiva, beautiful peacock motifs, and lush hanging plants that create an inviting atmosphere. The food was equally impressive, as I was able to try the 5-course menu during the Vancouver Dine Out festival. I tried the chicken tikka bao, wild berry sorbet, kashmiri mutton, matcha rasmalai cake and rose chai. The staff Bikram was friendly and warm. Will highly recommend!

Our experience at Sula was beyond outstanding! We were blown away by how hospitable, helpful, kind and generous the staff were – especially our main waiter, Ash!
They answered every question we had in detail, were patient with 3 kids who were overtired from travel, supported food allergies/preferences with full understanding and careful practices (celiac – lots of gluten free options! – and vegetarian, heaps of options!).
They went above and beyond with their service and the quality of the meals themselves were insane! So delicious, every entree and main was extremely tasty, with complex flavors and generous portion sizes. We would not hestitate to return all the way from Australia! We have already recommended them wholeheartedly to our family who will be visiting Vancouver in the next few weeks.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience – we wish we could come back again soon!

Ambience and experience was great, the naan that we ordered both cheese garlic and onion coriander were amazing, the pav slider was average, a bit sweet for our liking but the onion pakora was crispy, so that compensated for the pav sliders being average, we ordered kadai paneer for mains and it was too tangy but tasted decent, I won’t be ordering that again. Both the deserts were amazing. Overall a good experience, would visit again.
