This place is my new favorite sushi spot. Very fresh, skillfully prepared sushi and sashimi, the tempura soft shell crab is delicious the crab legs are sweet and the included raw oysters are super clean.

Solo diner experience.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The manager was personally seeing to guests as well.

I did not utilize the tablet as the food in the buffet area was more than enough. Most notably, there were crab legs, nigiri — like salmon, tuna, white tuna, and wagyu beef — and takoyaki. The takoyaki was hit or miss, the fresh pieces were great. There were no gloves, so eating the crab legs was quite messy. They were cooked very well came out in one piece half of the time, though this may be a skill issue on my part.

Only comment is that the restaurant has a soft opening promotion that offers guests a chef sampling plate of either wagyu beef or raw shrimp and sashimi. It is one per guest. The wagyu is unlimited in the buffet, so I would suggest trying the other option.

Salmon was very soft. Personally, I like my salmon firmer. Fish and food were fresh, as far as buffets go.

There is a gratuity of 12% added to the check, but no tip is expected. There isn’t an option for tip on the screen, so if you want to tip, i’d suggest bringing cash.

Overall, nice place and I will be returning with guests next time.

As someone who has spent a lot of time around Japanese restaurants, I can honestly say Sukiya Sushi & Japanese Buffet really surprised me in a very good way.
First of all, the freshness of the seafood stood out immediately. The sushi quality was far better than what you would normally expect from a buffet-style restaurant. The fish tasted clean, fresh, and properly handled, which is something that’s very important when it comes to sushi.
I also tried several items from the kitchen, including ramen and some hot dishes, and they were all very well prepared. The flavors were balanced, everything came out hot, and you could tell the kitchen cares about consistency and execution.
Another highlight was the seafood selection. Everything looked fresh and nicely presented, which makes a big difference for the overall dining experience.
The restaurant itself is beautiful. The interior design is modern, clean, and comfortable. It feels spacious and welcoming, making it a great spot whether you’re coming with friends, family, or even for a casual dinner.
One thing I really appreciated is that they seem to focus on quality and freshness instead of just putting out a huge quantity of food. That balance is not easy to achieve, especially for a buffet concept.
Overall, Sukiya exceeded my expectations. Great ingredients, fresh seafood, good kitchen execution, and a very nice atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the Costa Mesa area.

The manager Kevin is always so helpful and very pleasant. This is our second night at the restaurant and both nights even though it is their soft opening have been beyond expectations for a brand new restaurant. We definitely look forward to revisiting and seeing how they improve. FYI cash customers do you get a 10% discount.

Awesome sushi buffet, nice taste, and good variety. Some of the buffet foods weren’t my style but can still be tasty if you like them. Overall 9/10, was there in the first week so the service issues will be resolved soon.

I’m blown away by Sukiya Sushi and Japanese Buffet! The seafood variety is incredible. The highlight is the all-you-can-eat sushi and sashimi, and everything is made-to-order. The thick-cut Salmon, Sashimi, and Torched Lobster Rolls are exceptionally fresh and flavorful
At just $39.99 for dinner, the value is unbeatable. A big eater like my husband could easily make the owner lose money! Even though I eat less, the premium quality makes it worth every penny. Plus, there’s plenty of parking, which is a huge bonus. Highly recommended!
