It’s my favorite neighborhood restaurant to dine at and I often go to Sugarbeets after a productive week in the office. The owners are attentive and welcoming. I got the special last night with succulent seared scallops over velvety goat cheese mashed potatoes and a surprising pop of blackberry sauce was absolutely delicious.

Plenty to appreciate with the atmosphere. Love the varying colorful aprons that the wait staff gets to wear. Our server was fantastic and personable. Our food was fantastic. My favorite was the lobster bisque soup. The holiday drink special was so good too- a twist on a margarita. I es skeptical since I like classic margaritas. It was a great surprise.

Two nights in a row it was some of the best food I’ve had in the Utica or Rome area. The arancini and both mussels dishes were standouts. Friendly and relaxed. Pleasant bar.

First time at Sugar beets, what a tremendous experience,.. got the lobster bisque and arancini for appetizers, both were outstanding, plus for dinner my wife got the scallops and I got the steak tips which were outstanding, tender as could be.. The creme brulee dessert was as good as you can dream of… Someone is great, they are very attentive.. Noise was a little high because a table of ladies that came in was extremely loud forcing others to get louder to hear themselves, that’s on them, not the restaurant, Sugar beets is well worth the trip!

The food was over the top. I had pan-seared scallops cooked to perfection. The ambiance, the staff, and the amazing Tiramisu rivals Mike’s Pastry in Boston’s North End. Another another nice touch
was the bartender thanking us and I can’t wait to go back. Sugar beets offers a weekly special menu. I brought a friend for a birthday dinner and it couldn’t have been better.

Love this place, food is sooooo good! Portions are perfect and price for Fine dining is reasonable. Also the fun selections of cocktails and they make a mean Old Fashioned. We have sat on deck in summer and love the decor, inside and out, and the coziness. Staff are friendly and efficient. It was about $56 per person but that was with appetizers, soups, desserts, tip, drinks and Entrees of course.

We came in right at open, the restaurant is clean and very nice inside. Our waitress was also very nice and attentive. My issue with this restaurant is their portion sizes. I ordered their chicken sandwich which is $17 with fries, I opted for the salad for a $3 up charge. The piece of chicken they put in the sandwhich is a joke, it is almost paper thin. Inflation is one thing but serving this is a crime. I did mention it to the waitress and she said that was the norm. We also ordered the scallops which was also 5 tiny pieces. This place has potential but not with this portion sizes at the prices.
Quick reply to the restaurant: To compare yourself to Burger King is laughable, I mean. If we’re going there at least at BK you get a decent piece of chicken and not some paper thin flattened out joke. As far as the beer goes I did enjoy my second one after my first one had a hair in it. Kind of hard to mess up a beer.

This was my first visit to Sugarbeets after a friend recommended their pho as the only source in Rome. I have to say, this place checks nearly all of the boxes for me personally in atmosphere, service, and food.
Firstly, walking in there’s modern flow jazz playing with warm tones. The chill vibe coming from this place is enough for an extroverted introvert like myself to come back.
The service was top tier, starting and ending with Chase, the lovely GM and bartender, who’s also responsible for the invention of an amazing drink off the craft cocktail list called “The Crimson Pimm” (pictured).
This cocktail served in a large Bordeaux glass, had aromatics involved: a whiff of rosemary sprig atop a mix of lemonade, pomegranate juice, Pimm’s Liqueur, grapefruit vodka, and ginger beer. It’s very well balanced with the grapefruit taking a star role without being overwhelming.
Chase’s recommendations, and heartwarming personality, were fast, inviting, and attentive. Lastly, but surely not least, I had their Sugarbeets Pho and Dominick Salmon (both pictured).
The flavors of the broth from the Sugarbeets Pho was full of depth and spice. It’s a ginger-heavy broth with baby shrimp and shallots with non-traditional pho noodles. Overall, I found it light, refreshing, and it hit the spot for a quick appetizer or a small meal.
The Dominick Salmon was another Chase suggestion and she was 4 for 4 for the evening! It was perfectly cooked at medium and delicately coated in house butter. The seasoning was spot on with a hit of acidity and a beautiful blend of fresh vegetables on the side.
Even the lovely couple at the bar, in a full restaurant, was wonderful company.
10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an impressive, well-balanced, flavorful meal in Rome in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Outstanding restaurant.
Came in the family for the first time and we all were very impressed with everything about it.
The atmosphere is great, food is fantastic, and bar service was also really great.
They run with a thin staff, but they’re very efficient. The dining experience overall is among the best around Rome, NY.
We tried their fried cheese curds appetizer and it was delicious.
There were 4 of us for dinner and we tried 4 different meals with everyone raving about how great their meals were.
Loved it and will come back again!

We had a wonderful dinner at Sugarbeets. Fiona, our server, was very good. She really was busy taking care of us and her other customers in the dining room. The food was delicious. We had shrimp scampi and scallops and the calamari upgrade appetizer. All was spot on. Wine and beer were great. I recommend this place very highly.
