I had a pretty bad experience at this Subway location today (1:45 PM or so), I’ll explain from the beginning. The first time coming to this establishment was shortly after moving from Apex to Cary back in May, it’s conveniently right up the road from me. I met the owner in passing and he was awesome.

I recently came back and they were out of the Subway Vinaigrette and asked to substitute for oil and vinegar, which is okay, I can understand if it’s out of stock. I came back today and greeted the woman with a white bandana and asked if they had it back in stock, they said no and I said “Okay, that’s a deal breaker for me”. While in conversation about how I preferred the Vinaigrette she then brought out an empty tea container, and asked me for help. I felt it was an odd request to ask a customer for help that’s work related, but I obliged and helped her with whatever it was.

She asks, “Where will you go now” and I reply, “Probably to Firehouse Sub which is a bit closer to me than Subway, but I wanted this particular sub over a sub at Firehouse.”

She goes into the back and oddly enough they did have it, they just hadn’t stocked it which strikes me as either lazy or dishonest. Did they have it in stock the entire time and just didn’t stock it like they normally do?

So she opens the vinaigrette and proceeds to quite literally dump it all over the sub since it was pouring straight out of the bag and not out of the bottle they stock it in.

I was like, “whoa, that’s a bit too much, could you please remove some of the vinaigrette, it’s going to overpower it. Ignoring me, she replies by asking what’s next, I don’t think she understand my request really, she then proceeds to add salt and pepper as well as oregano per request before adding the vinaigrette. At this point I’m a little upset, but decided to stay because I had good experiences with the owner previously.

While paying, my card was declined and she asked if I had cash instead, which is fine I guess.

So I sat down to eat my sub, and sure enough it was unpalatable. The now-available vinaigrette had permeated the entire sub to the point it overpowered the other flavors. I got up to see if I could find a napkin, but couldn’t find any in stock or available; however, luckily I had some under the plastic my sub came in. I wiped a portion of the vinaigrette off and it managed to get all over my hands, I had had it at this point.

She came over to me with a water cup filled with subway vinaigrette and asked me if I wanted it. I said no thank you, I’d prefer if it were just available next time I came in. She rolled her eyes and walked away, I felt bad and called out that I’d take it home. She ignored and proceeded to throw it in the trash.

Yeah, it was this point I wrapped up my sub and left. I normally have good experiences at subway and have a very specific sub that I like that they usually make for me, and I almost always finish the sub before leaving. The woman that made my sub today was the same individual that made my sub the last time that said the vinaigrette was out of stock. I just get overall negative passive aggressive vibes from her. I don’t feel welcomed and just had a very unpleasant experience. I just have had bad experiences at this establishment overall and don’t think I’m going to return unfortunately.

I’m absolutely over this place. Ordered delivery and never got my drink and chips. Such small items make the biggest inconvenience especially when you planned to share. Can’t ever call the store either.

Update 10/17/24 From 1 to 3 stars. Came back for a last chance at redemption after looking at other recent reviews. Fortunately there’s a new hire who was an absolute dream of customer service considering my last three horrible experiences. Talked to her for a bit and she was so pleasant. I’m willing to go back as long as she’s there. I want this place to be better so bad.

Update 11/4/24 From 3 to 5 starts.
This is my final update as I’m fully satisfied with the turn around in my experiences here the past few visits. There was a full and lively crew this time, including the new hire fromlast visit. I talked to all of them as they were just really pleasant and customer service was amazing. Food was quality and I decided to dine in this time. Please go support the new staff so we can keep this last store open in the heart of Cary.

This service sucks. Whoever the owners are need to stop being cheap and hire additional people to work during peak times. Every time I go to this location, there is always a wait. Today, I stood at the counter for nearly 10 minutes before the clerk started my order. When she did, she messed up and tried to force me to get my full sandwich toasted when all she needed to do was heat the meat separately. While it may be some simple, ultimately I’m paying for it and wanted it that way and especially after I politely waited for her to finish the door dash order she was working on.

Hard to mess up a Veggie Delight..but they managed it. The person making it was nice enough but possibly new? Added the oil and vinegar directly to the bread, salt and pepper in little ineffective sprinkles. It basically tasted like a salad with no seasoning, on bread.

Workers here don’t have any common sense. I ordered here with my boyfriend and we stood there deciding what we wanted for about 5 minutes before we ordered. I told the lady I wanted the #17 and she started on something I didn’t ask for so I questioned her and asked if she could put the right cut of meat in my sub. She told me she thought I ordered the number 8 which at this store the #8 isn’t even on the menu screen. She apologized and remade it no big deal. When it came to payment they charged me for a meal and an extra drink and chips for the second sub but they didn’t charge me for the sub and then rang me up separate from the first ticket which I ended up paying $1.75 more but the whole ticket is already expensive as hell in the first place. Then after we tried to explain what they did wrong they kept saying there was no difference when it was a clear difference. Can’t speak English or do simple math.

I went into subway a few days ago and the service and atmosphere of the establishment was amazing. The boy working there was playing some good old 90s songs that made me feel right at home! The service there would be given 6 stars if I could AND to make things even better the boy who was working was by himself and still handled the line quickly and efficiently while being able to make small talk with each customer; being polite and having good communication skills which is what you want with someone who deals with customers all day. Overall I’d give this store a 9/10 with my only complaint being that they were out of the bread I wanted and the prices have seemed to have skyrocketed. Definitely will be coming back again.

I love this place. I come here a lot. The owner is really nice and all of the employees do a great job. I ordered the same thing every time I come in steak cheese with the Italian herb sub it’s always fantastic.

Ordered online for this location at 1:30pm Monday. I recieved notification that my order was ready. upon arriving at the store nobody at drive thru and sign taped to window saying drive thru closed. Not the end of the world so I went up to the door. Door was locked and lights off. Waited a few minutes to see if someone was on lunch as there was a car in the parking lot. A worker finally came to door motioning for me to go away. I showed her my screen with the online order that says ready. She shoos me away and as I was walking back to my car came outside and said they are closed and she was “prepping for tomorrow” what? the hours on the door say 9am-10pm and my order went through. She says she opened the computer to clock in and that’s why it went through. Definitely not the case! Don’t waste your time or money because corporate won’t contact you back either.

Ordered online. Tried to pick up thru drive thru. After waiting a fre minutes at the order speaker, we drive past the window that had some cookie bag taped to it with a message on it, not sure what it said. Went in to pick up and employee was in the back and came out smelling like weed, which could be why my order was messed up. None of the 3 sandwiches that were supposed to be toasted were actually toasted, 1 had olives when it shouldn’t have, the chicken on one was lacking to say the least. I’m extremely disappointed. Tried to call and the phone is disconnected. Total waste of money!!!

The drink machine had been broken for *months*, their roast beef has been gross and smelly every time I’ve had it in the last month and a half. This store had more problems than staffing. The owner is not maintaining it, and they are not throwing away old roast beef like they’re supposed to. So even though Subway took roastbeef away for two years to rework supply chains for fresher meat, practically doubling the coast of roast beef on the menu, they’re still selling you semi-spoiled gross meat. Do not buy roastbeef at this store.
