So first off, I am not a bar person. Not a big drinker either. However, Suburban Tap will definitely be seeing more of me in the future. My family and I went there for dinner on a Monday evening to support a fundraiser for my daughter’s middle school percussion program. Right off the bat the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. There was a mix of families and what appeared to me as regulars. It was bingo night so that was an added bonus. The menu is pretty standard bar fare, but it is intentional and well prepared. There was a spicy salad dressing made in house that was terrific if you like some spice. Everything is reasonably priced and portions are generous. Service was friendly and prompt. For comparison, with my family of three, it was less expensive for 3 entrees and an appetizer at Suburban Tap than it would be for just 3 entrees at Chili’s. And it’s local and they support the community! They also had Abita Purple Haze on tap (which is my favorite beer). So we will definitely be eating there regularly.

If you want an old school neighborhood tavern atmosphere serving great food this is your place.

There wings are huge and cooked perfect every time, crispy outside and juicy on the inside. There wings sauces are amazing, their habanero is homemade and you can tell! There scorcher, the hottest one they have is amazing, great flavors, but watch out I’m not kidding it’s hot!

I’ve tried the fried pickles and they batter was real, not frozen, they were great. They have nightly specials, one I tried was grilled chicken nuggets with your choice of side, I chose grilled broccoli, loved both!

They have both inside and outside seating, but note the outside is where all the smokers go then go back inside. So if you’re there to eat outside note you’re in a smoking section.

The inside is non-smoking, thank God, tight but warm and rustic like a good bar should be, lots of both and table seating.

Staff are always friendly, service is great and there is tons of humor if you sit at the bar and listen to the regulars. Love it.

Parking is problem, it’s tight with very few spaces.

Would I go here again, of course, I do already. 🙂

Our server Emilie was wonderful! She checked in on us constantly and always kept drinks full. Will definitely go back next time I’m in town. I would recommend them to not host trivia night on a Saturday during Georgia football.

Staff took care of us quite well and the food was hearty and delicious. I had the grilled chicken quesadilla and some fried onion rings. Excellent.

The first time I went, I ordered a sandwich and when I bit into it I got something rough and unpleasant. I looked inside and there was an entire bay leaf in there! How does that even happen? I know I could have eaten it after I picked it off but the first horrible bite with it in there really made me lose any appetite for it. I ate one bite with it removed, and did not care for it. I pointed it out to the waitress but was not offered another meal or a credit on my bill. I would not have returned except that they have bingo and I have a friend who really likes to play. Traditional Bingo is on Monday nights and SoundCheck (music Bingo) is on Sunday nights. My friends really enjoy these. They have other themes on other nights that I am not familiar with.
They do not have many healthy options on the menu and I have found the salads lacking nutrition and flavor. The grilled (or steamed) broccoli is good and you can order a plain baked potato if you don’t want to go the fried option. If you want traditional pub food, you will probably like the food just fine. The burgers are pretty good and I hear the wings are also but I’ve never had them myself.
They have high top tables, booths, and bar seating. If you plan to stay the whole evening, like for Bingo, or you have any back pain, be aware that the booths quickly become uncomfortable. The service is generally very good.

I got the fish tacos, blackened, on a Monday evening. 40 minutes later, they came out. The fish is cold, not blackened, almost like they took it out of the fridge and slapped it on there. Wouldn’t recommend coming here at all.

Giving these guys 5 stars. In my prior times going in the place was dirty, musty and would make a dive bar seem upscale. It seemed a lot cleaner and less smokier this time.

Went with the boneless wings which were solid. The lemon pepper could use a bit more flavor, but the meal overall was high quality chicken.

Thursday burger specials are fantastic! Service depends on the server, some are great, some disappear and are hardly seen again.

Come hungry, always leave satisfied. Best dive bar in the EC!

However, one BIG piece of advice if management ever sees this. Please Please spend the money to do some renovations! The last time I noticed the kitchen, it looked digesting & the ceiling looks like it has never seen a cleaning since the day it opened… As much love as customers show the place, give some back to the community by keeping it nice & sanitary.

UPDATE ON MY REVIEW Nov 5th 2022:

I have to lower my stars on this place. It’s a damn shame about this place. The ownership is clearly running this establishment on the cheap. The only reason to patronage this place is to watch certain games.

FOOD:
Just disappointing, heavy fried, greasy, old iceberg lettuce in multiple salads I’ve ordered and returned several times. Almost burnt, to burnt no seasoning of the dishes I’ve ordered. I’ve had to return Coke drinks several times for weak tasting low syrup and carbonation on a coke?? Who cheapens Coke??? It’s like carbonated water. I can see ownership going cheap. Tried a new menu item, their boneless chicken with broccoli. My God, it was one of the worst dishes I’ve ever tasted from a Sports/Dive Bar (See the pic) Not a execution of a dish ANY establishment serving food would attempt to put on the menu. The chicken had NO taste and tough, the broccoli was cold watered down with a mystery type of sauce or something if you can call it that. Food is pretty bad, cheap and just gross.

As a military combat veteran that lived all over and have patronized a lot of Sports/Dive Bars, I can tell you this is the worst I’ve been too. PERIOD!!!

Service:
High turn over wait staff (a little more training) and bartenders are good. No issue there, they make up for the food.

Atmosphere:
The back room always has ac blowing consistently. Ive seen more and more people are uncomfortable with sitting in the back area of this establishment. Due to the fan and HVAC system is like a cooler back their, even in the summer it’s too cold and people leave. I’ve seen couples to groups being seated and then within 5min asking the server to reseat them. The back area always has open seating due to this point. Several servers have have told me this as well when I’ve complained. This has been a known issue and yet the management has not made it comfortable for its patrons in the back area AC is on even in the winter time.

The booths are old and give you that 1970s feel with hard wooden seats. Some of the seat are old and creak lol.

It’s really sad that you go to the back area were there is alot of TV’s and seats just open but the front is packed full. Fix the HVAC problem
This has been going on since the summer freezing in the back area. SMDH

Sometimes, the TVs work and sometimes there are issues with the TVs having the NFL Package playing. Some of the TVs don’t work or it’s a pain to find the remotes. It’s a damn shame and I feel sorry for the staff. Some TVs are smart TVs so it’s a challenge to turn the TVs to different games.

Men’s Bathroom:
Ok, I’ve been in military for over 13 yrs in combat theaters. I’ve had better toilet paper in Iraq & Afghanistan than this place. I’ll just leave it at that. Cheap

Bring your food I am telling you, or eat before you get here!!! Just a warning.

Fire the ownership and get a management team that will give this place the potential to make it a real Sports Bar!!!
