We had good sub sandwiches. The No. 27 is our favorite. The brownies were good as well.

I’m a Jimmy John’s type of girl, but I was near Sub City and decided to stop in. I didn’t realize it was 10 minutes til closing time, but the staff was just as awesome as if it was mid-shift. The sandwiches are HUGE and the ingredients are fresh. I got 2 half sandwiches and the price was $14. For what we got, I felt it was fairly priced and I know I’ll have some for lunch tomorrow. They have a LOT of options so there is something for everyone. They have their basic set of toppings called “The Works” and then you can request additional toppings which are listed right in front of you. I will definitely be back sooner than later. You won’t regret eating here!

Wonderful old school sub shop experience. Nice decor, clean facilities, staff were friendly and professional.
The subs were good sized with fresh ingredients. Flavor was top notch and pricing was excellent. We were traveling thru and stopped there with no prior experience with the chain. I would highly recommend eating here if you love amazing subs and friendly staff.

We got back to Waterloo after being gone for awhile, and stopped at the Kimball Sub City. We joined the line as we ordered, and watched them make our sub of choice. Then we sat down to enjoy. Love this place!
3 months later and stopped for a sandwich on the way home. Picked up the usual… In and out in record time. It helps to go on off peak times!! They still slice meat and cheese while you watch and add preferred toppings as you wish. One sub easily feeds the 2 nof us. I don’t even miss the fries!

I am from NYC & this is the CLOSEST thing to a great hoagie you will find here! This is honestly ONE of the best sub places in the US! God bless them!

Not from around here, tried it for lunch… meat is sliced to order, sandwiches are classic cold cuts, the bread is incredibly soft. I ordered a whole with chips but probably only needed half. Give this place a try

Never again. Should have just not went. Only reason I did is because the one on 4th was closed. What a waste to my visit home. If it clearly shows “served hot” wouldn’t the cheese be melted or asked if I want melted? #32 and had the nerve to ask if I wanted it warmed up after all the veggies added…umm no. They put it in a container and my whole sandwich is so soggy it fell apart. When I come back in town I’ll just pass on my Sub if the one on 4th isn’t open. Such a shame. I get one every time I come home. And no that’s not bread in the pic, it’s soggy bread. Like it’s the same texture as dough.
Update: Because he’s kinda new I’ll give you 3 stars. Next time they need to just ask since people have different preferences and not every location makes sandwiches the same. Not once was I asked about these options. Also, the tone you’re using is not very friendly or empathetic, you may want to work on that when replying to a low rating.

Although there are other decent places to get a sub sandwich in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, Sub City beats them all. The sandwiches are authentic New Jersey style, the ingredients are always fresh, and they slice the meat right in front of you. We are blessed to have 3 Sub City locations in our area. All of them are great, but the downtown Waterloo location caters mostly to the lunch crowd, and College Hill is a bit higher priced (ironically, since it serves a lot of college students). It is nice that the Kimball Ridge location is open later for those who might want subs for supper.

The food is really fresh and really fast! Staff is extremely friendly. Gluten free? Get your sub in a tub – which is sub toppings on a salad.

Best sub sandwich you can get in the Midwest. Very generous portions of meat and cheese. Fresh bread. Fast service. Great prices. Locally owned.
