Such a wonderful place to enjoy a meal with family. The service is always top notch, the food is delicious and the prices are phenomenal. I recommend the steak strips! Always on point with tenderness and sauteed to perfection!!! I can’t wait until we get to go back.

This is a fantastic family-friendly restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and we really appreciated that someone came over to check on us and make sure everything was going well. It’s clear they care about their customers. Highly recommend for a great meal and experience.

Food was great as always. But today must have really been a Monday. Have went there for years but today was disappointing. I’m mobility impaired the guy and lady attempted to send us to a table total opposite of the door we came in. There were several closer which I went to sit at. Then we waited for a good 5 to 7 minutes before offered a menu or acknowledged. Again good food always great not crowded when we were there. Surprise time when check is left and we are charged 50 cents each for WATER. We looked on the menus and it’s scribbled vaguely on the bottom some you can hardly see. Bathrooms were in need of WATER today to clean both men’s and ladies also. Very surprised at today’s visit for certain.

The owner was very rude and unprofessional. I ordered a flounder dinner with double fries, asking for the fish to be fried hard.. Once I got there and checked the food my fish fell apart once I picked it up and my fries were hot but soggy.. asked for it to be remade and the owner told the kitchen just to drop the fish a lil longer.. honestly I was okay with that. with the fries he could’ve made them fresh instead of recooking already cooked fries.. He told me i was being difficult and i told him i was being nice about the situation he responded “I could care less buddy!” So I asked for a refund and he then tried to get the food and show me how it looked and whatever else he was saying.. The woman who helped me and refunded my money greeted me upon arrival was very polite and professional throughout the whole situation. Also the pricing is different from what is posted online. Update your menu for future customers!

Amazing service! Biscuits so light and great touch with the pepper in the gravy. It filled up FAST once the doors opened. Notably good coffee.

We asked at the Wood Brothers museum if they recommended any restaurants close by. They told us to go to the Stuart Family restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint! We were traveling back home to Pennsylvania from the Martinsville race weekend and always stop at the Wood Brothers Racing museum.

Know what you’re getting into here and you’ll be happy. Past breakfast it’s one of those places whose menu is as big as what can go from their freezer to a deep fryer or griddle, but it’s great service and good value for money and you won’t leave hungry.
Had the country-fried steak and whitefish fish and chips. The country fried steak was thicker than expected (like the cube steak hadn’t been pounded out as I’m used to) which was tender and crispy; the hush puppies were the standard slightly-too-sweet-from-a-bag, but fine, and the fried okra was great. The whitefish were the thin food-service fillets you’re used to from church fish-fries where you are sometimes only eating breading, but seasoned and fried well.
It’s a little run-down with random deer-antler chandeliers and such, but it’s clean. Our server was great and attentive. Definitely looking forward to stopping by the place for a breakfast.
It’s the kind of place that you are perfectly happy to stop by when you’re on the way to somewhere, but is missing a special menu item that makes it a destination for a detour (like fresh-made big hush puppies or something).

This was the first time we had gone to SFR. Funny thing, when I googled it, it actually showed a pic of Hardee’s which was across the street. Weird, huh?! Anyway, this is in the same place as the old Tex-BBQ used to be.
Anyway, upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by Joyce, and she so kindly moved us to a different table that was not so close to the door.
The restrooms were clean, stocked, and had hot water.
The inside walls of the restaurant were decorated with an eclectic collection of county looking items. It was really neat.
The place was pretty packed, and even has a Drive-Thru.
We watched some dinners come out that not only looked good, they looked to be large portions for your money.
Our Server was Taylor (she just graduated from Highschool – Go Cougars). Even though as I said the place was pretty busy, she really took her time with us. Based on our questions, she gave us some recommendations on what she thought we’d like.
She was spot on! I got the Catfish special with Fried Squash, Hush Puppies, and my husband got the Mushroom Burger with Potato Salad.
This place was recommended by a friend of mine. She told me it is a family style restaurant, and it did have that family feeling.
They have breakfast there too.
So if you’re out near Stuart, I highly recommend you visit this place, we’ll definitely go there again!
Have a great day, and please be safe!

My husband loved the fried seafood. They have nothing for the vegetarian customer except fried sides and broccoli smothered in cheese wiz. I guess this is to be expected in small town diners, but at least offer SOME vegi protein options!
To my vegi friends, order the mashed potatoes and broccoli WITHOUT the cheese. They did have a decent basic salad, and at least the ranch dressing was house made. If you want to splurge on fried, the onion rings were good.
The service was friendly and fast, and the waitress was very patient with my special requests 🙂
