**CAUTION: NO LONGER LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY**

I am a member of the Trans community and have been out for over three years. On many occasions during this period, I have attended Thursday night karaoke at Stryker’s without incident. Tonight, however, immediately upon entering the premises, one of the owners approached me and told be that I could not use the ladies room. I was confused, as I had just arrived and did not express intent on using any bathroom. The owner kept repeating herself, as if I was hard of hearing.
The second owner then approached me and asked me to leave. I asked him what I had done wrong and he replied “you walked in, that’s what you did”. He wasn’t even willing to settle for Jim Crow-style accommodations of me sitting alone in a separate area.
I then went to my friend, who was the DJ, and let her know what had just transpired. She was visibly upset, and told me that another trans individual was asked to leave prior to my arrival.
Surprisingly, as I proceeded to leave, one of the owners apologized to me and told me I could stay, apparently after learning that I was a regular and “one of the good ones”. I refused to accept the apology; there is little doubt that they would have asked any trans individual they did not know to leave.
The state of Connecticut has some of the strongest anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination laws in the country, and so I will end by cautioning the owners against this type of behavior going forward.

Went here for New Year’s Eve and had a great time. The owner is very friendly and the service was great. This is a good place to go if you are into live music. They have bands on the weekends,open-jams on Sundays, and karaoke on Thursdays(and sometimes Saturdays). Lots of fun!

Small but nice. Saw a friend’s band play, Curb Appeal, cover songs. Fun time. Bartender super great even when husband spilled my untouched drink all over the bar. Nice place for a group of friends. Nothing fancy but decent prices. Outside patio in back.

This bar is absolutely DISGUSTING! New owner! New Mess! Bathrooms are beyond useable, especially the men’s. The kitchen should be shut down for cross contamination. Expiration dates are never checked, things are never rotated, bartenders NEVER wash their hands, as there’s no soap available ANYWHERE. The owner smokes in the bar after hours and GOD knows what else! (We all know but I’ll leave it at that). Bartenders are more worried about over serving customers, and padding tabs than cleaning the bar! It’s a joke! It’s a three ring circus, and the owner is the biggest clown of them all! He’s a used car salesman that thought it would be fun to buy a bar and has no clue how to run it! As you can see from the pictures below the bar should be condemned!

I would never recommend Strykers Cafe! Especially because the owner treats his staff terrible! Especially if you have an opinion of disagree with his tone or don’t like him touching you inappropriately or him calling you “sweetheart” or “darling” then you better starting looking for a new job because you’re on his list! Sad what this place has become.

Great bar, free pool, bands on weekends, and open mic Sunday nights. Great bar food served after five or six. Extremely courteous staff and the owner Marc is great. The bar cares about local causes by running food drives and other charitable events throughout the year.
