We heard so much about this place and was excited to try it. It’s really in the middle of nowhere and even though the GPS said 18 minutes away it felt like forever because of the ol’ Pittsburgh backroads.

We had a large party of 7 and made a reservation. When we got there our table wasn’t ready. They have it posted at the front about tables having a time limit, so I was a little surprised by when our table still wasn’t ready after 15 minutes of waiting.

Our party was hangry and frustrated. The staff eventually got us a table, apologized and offered a free appetizer. Soon the bread the flowing and the quick appetizer delivery made every happy.

There is no cork fee which is great! We had a mozzarella cheese wheel and the zucchini appetizer- both were superb!

The meals offered generous portions, their sauce is delicious. Salads very good too. We left happy and stuffed.

Can’t wait for the one on canonsburg to open.

The atmosphere was really nice with dim lighting. I was seated near the front door, and you could feel the cold air coming in, which I wasn’t a big fan of. The space felt more business-oriented than cozy.
The table bread was fresh and delicious definite bonus points. The butter was soft and easy to spread.
The wedge salad was packed with fresh veggies and bacon and was very well done. I loved the blue cheese crumbles, along with the sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. The lettuce portion was generous, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it.
The stuffed peppers were a huge portion honestly enough to feed about three people. The red sauce was delicious, with big chunks of tomatoes, onions, and peppers. The sliced sausage was a nice touch, and the dish had a slight kick of spice. The peppers were tender, and while I wasn’t exactly sure what was in the filling (possibly sausage and rice), the texture was great.
The chicken piccata was excellent. The sauce was tangy, sour, and savory with a really nice balance. The chicken was very tender, and the artichokes and mushrooms were delicious. Adding Parmesan cheese, as recommended, was the perfect touch. The lemon flavor really shines in this dish, so if you’re not a fan of lemon, I wouldn’t recommend it. The portion size was decent, with two chicken fillets.
To finish, the tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. It was light, smooth, and chocolatey, with a wonderful coffee flavor that wasn’t overpowering. There was also a subtle hint of vanilla. Absolutely amazing.

The side salad was great, I really enjoyed the eggplant add shrimp parmesan. The fresh bread they put on the table is also very good. My party was already there we joined them. Was a great place for my stepsister’s 53rd birthday party.

I hate to say this about Pittsburgh’s Italian food scene, but this experience was honestly a disappointment. I wish I had woken up from this nightmare before spending a C-note here. The food was mediocre at best and nowhere near what I expected.

If I had to compare it to something, it was almost on the same level as Bravo! Italian Kitchen — and that’s not meant as a compliment when you’re expecting authentic Italian cuisine.

I don’t even know where to begin with the specifics, but I think that says enough. Overall, it just didn’t live up to the hype or the price.

A Slice of Italy Right Here in Pittsburgh! Bellissimo!
If you’re craving authentic, heartwarming Italian food, look no further than Storms. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and genuinely authentic—it feels like a family-run trattoria straight from a small village in Tuscany.
We started with the Fried Brussel Sprouts, they were perfectly crisp and light. For the main course, I had the Chicken Parmesan and it was divine—clearly made with high-quality ingredients. My partner ordered the Chicken Picatta which was hearty and delicious.
The service was excellent; our waiter was incredibly attentive.
Storms delivers a five-star dining experience. We’re already planning our next visit!

Whether dining in or picking up an order, Storms is wonderful. I have never been disapppointed with the food, going back to when I first discovered them at the old downtown location. I only took away one star from my Atmosphere rating because the dining room is far too small and needs some way to absorb sound. It seems like a rowdy barroom sometimes with the loud chatter. But don’t let that deter you from one of the area’s best Italian restaurants.

We discovered Storms in its current location a few years ago and loved it until it fell off our radar due to a few subsequent sub par experiences. We gave it another shot on Friday, October 31 and were so glad that we did! Amber was a terrific server-good sense of humor without being cloyingly familiar, knowledgeable about the menu and portions, and attentive without hovering. Everything from the Breadworks bread, fried zucchini appetizer, house salads, and the “Trio Special” (amazing scallops, spots Romano, and grilled shrimp) were delicious. We also appreciate that there is no corkage fee with the BYOB policy. I’m spreading the word and can’t wait to go back.

Friends recommended this place and we came by on a Wednesday night. Good thing we made reservations as the place is small, and was packed. The dining room is not large and there is another, small, annex, which is where we were seated. Because we were in the annex, I could not see how many staff members were on duty that night, but we only saw three: The hostess, our waitress, and a busboy.

The menu features very typical American-Italian dishes, so we chose four different ones. We’ve been told their servings sizes are large, and entrees came with a choice of a soup or salad, so we abstained from any appetizers. Two of us got the dinner salad, and two went with the Wedding soup which was the only option offered. The dinner salad is pretty ordinary with the only two things that distinguish it from other restaurant’s offerings being the croutons used and the appearance of a mix of green and black olives. The wedding soup was tasty but one of the cups had no meatballs in it.

We got the following four entrees – with my comments on each – in order of best to worst:
1. Angel Hair Fra Diavolo: While not the traditional one, this was clearly the best meal of the night. The sauce was jus spicy enough to be interesting and the pasta was cooked enough – but not overcooked as sometimes happens with angel hair.
2. Eggplant Parmesan: This was a decent representation of this dish. It was a bit on the sweet side, but the eggplant retained its crunchy coating even though it was sauced, so that was a good thing.
3. Chicken Piccata: This one was a bit odd. I do not typically see artichokes on this one. It was very saucy, but it was lemony.
4. Chicken Marsala: The first thing that struck me was how thin and sweet the sauce was. It took a bit for the Marsala flavor to come through. It was definitely there though. Definitely the worst of the bunch. Not really terrible, but not one that I would want again as there are far better ones all around the Pittsburgh area.

One thing that we commented on was the lack of a pasta side with the two chicken dishes. They were very saucy, and runny sauces at that, so what were we supposed to do with that? We did use some of the bread that was on the table, and could, I suppose, have asked for more.

The waitress zoomed by on occasion. She was a whirlwind. This is why I made the comment above about not knowing how many staff members they had that night. We saw her when she took our orders, delivered our food, gave us our checks, and our receipts. Similarly with the other three tables in the annex. The busboy was the one who came by every five to six minutes to take away empty plates, refill water glasses, and – in our table – provide the missing cutlery.

While prices were very reasonable, I do not think we will come back. The food was just OK and there are much better examples of this kind of cuisine around the area.
