As far as food is concerned, we ordered fries, slaw, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage, and everything was done really well.
The pitmaster runs a large, heavy-duty smoker out back and does Texas-style BBQ the right way. The coleslaw had an even balance of mayo and vinegar (which I prefer), and the BBQ sauces were excellent. We also loved that they make their own in-house syrups for the sodas, which is a small detail that says a lot about their care and craft.
And the Nintendo 64 setup was the cherry on top.
This was a wonderful execution of beer and BBQ, which is honestly an uncommon find.
We’ll be back!
The dry-rub ribs are a must — incredible flavor. The brisket is insanely moist and cooked perfectly, and the pulled pork is to die for. Honestly, everything we tried was fantastic.
It’s attached to a brewery, which makes it even better. Amazing food, great vibe, and an easy 5/5 stars. 1000% recommend.
Also, the beer is incredible. They been it onsite. My favorite is the hazy IPA.
I also had the Frito pie that had a black bean and pumpkin chili on top, it could have been spicier but it was still solid and i’d definitely order it again. The Cole Slaw had a mayo and vinegar base which made it creamy and tangy, so good! Go check out these new guys on the block! Also, I could drink a gallon of the shandy they serve at the bar!
We had the brisket and pulled pork with fried plantains with habanero mayo. The brisket was very good. Juicy and fresh, great, flavorful bark, and pull apart tender.
The plantains were insane. So so so good.
Lastly, the freaking sauces. Y’all, I was just eating the sauces with a spoon when the meat was gone. The mustard sauce it incredibly well balanced sweet, tangy, and mustardy with a great pepper kick. Same with the red sauce.
Mike, the owner and man behind all the scratch-made everything obviously has a really good sense for what tastes good. He’s got something really great here.
I’ll be back as soon as humanly possible for more.
Its located at a small unassuming brewery in East Nashville. The large smoker outside with the pitmaster chillin outside with a shovel was a good enough sign for me.
You walk in to a bare bones brewery with a friendly staff. This place was brand new (opened in August) and has the small operation industrial look that many breweries do. You order your BBQ from inside the brewery then pick it up outside at the food truck, but this is way more than food truck BBQ.
I ordered brisket, slaw, and potato salad. The brisket was done as well as you could do it; well formed bark, tender but intact, juicy but not to the point that you lose the texture of the meat. Sometimes places want dripping wet brisket but then lose the rich smokey savory bite that brisket is all about.
Slaw was fresh, almost had a tzatziki flavor to it with the very light dressing and cilantro combo. Good.
Potato salad was served warm with a very slight acidity and vinegar touch that went well with the bacon and onion.
The staff was proud of their product and happy to have people stop in. They chatted with me about BBQ for a minute, thanked me for coming in, and seemed to care about what they were doing while also having a good time doing it. I felt welcome by everyone including the bartender. They had a positive energy and confidence about their food that I appreciated and could feel.
These guys have the potential and skill to be a “line out the door” BBQ joint and I hope it works out for them.
Highly recommend, I’d go back any time, and if you read this then don’t hesitate to give these guys some business and enjoy some great BBQ.
P.S. although this is a BBQ review, the bar staff on the brewery side of things was equally as welcoming and friendly. Great experience all around.
Great food, great beer (I liked the “Premium” Hazy IPA) Prices were excellent for generous portions of delicious food.
Brisket was incredible – melted in my mouth with an absolutely delicious dry rub exterior. Firecrackers tasted like a yummier version of Cool Ranch Doritos.
Staff was friendly and clearly enjoyed working at this no-frills Brewpub.
If I had to complain about something, I guess parking was bad…? Overall 5/5 stars. Go here ASAP before some MBA ruins the place.
