Max and Phil are great people: superb customer experience
Food was wonderful: definitely got what I paid for.

Friend and I saw this place while we were out for a drive, and we COULD SMELL THE PLACE before coming up to it. So that was our great first impression of the place. When we actually stopped by and ordered some food, Phil was helpful with any questions we had. We ordered the “All In” and also got their BBQ and hot sauce,《spacing on the name sadly》all of which was good.
The only thing that I was missing would have been corn bread. I will definitely order it the next time I’m out in Burlington.
I did call him later to try and order more for the road but found out he sold out by 4:30! So definitely don’t hesitate. If you have time to stop by this hidden gem, make sure to not only do so, but do it in a timely manner!

This is BBQ. This is what it’s all about. Amazing cuts of meat on styrofoam and eatin outside is the essence of BBQ and I was very impressed. I’ve been to several of the known BBQ places in Vermont and this one takes the cake. All their sauces were fantastic, biscuits were buttery and the mac and cheese was outstanding. I can’t recommend this place enough. While others will give you dry smoked meats that have been sitting around, their food is fresh and they’re honest and fair with you. If you’re around Essex and this place is open then go there immediately!

First of all, I’m going to start out by saying that I’m a Southerner, meaning I’ve had way more than my share of BBQ since it’s a staple down home.
And I can honestly say that this was the best BBQ that I’ve ever had in my life hands down.
All of the meat was juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender and so, so flavorful.
I tried their hot sauce and it definitely had a kick but it also tasted amazing which is something that I usually don’t come by these days.
Portions were a generous size.
My entire family left full and we can definitely eat.
Not to mention the Staff are absolutely terrific, just the sweetest, funniest people you’ll ever meet.
Definitely couldn’t recommend them more!

Everything was wonderful. The strong smoke flavor showed the time taken in the pit. Sauces added the right burst of flavor but even naked the ribs were great. They went above and beyond on my order adding things that made the meal great. Try the cobbler, we had peach that was as good as anything in the south and I bet their apple will be just as good.

We chose this place over another down the street because of the slightly better reviews. It was so worth it! We ordered pulled pork, brisket, and ribs with some sides and cornbread. They had it ready in about 3 minutes to take away.
There are some very decent bbq places opening up in northern VT, and this place is easily in my top 1-2. The meat was super juicy and tender, but not overdone, and we loved the mustard based sauce.
Next time I’m definitely going to show up early enough to try their burnt ends!

Outstanding BBQ.
It is definitely a smoked venue. It’s in the name. So be sure to consider your taste preferences when it comes to BBQ.
I found it to be the best BBQ I have ever had in memory. Great crust. Great pink line that was about a quarter inch thick on the Brisket. Thick slices. Great weight. I didn’t even finish my side of beans which was generously portioned.
Dessert was great. Coleslaw just melted with the brisket perfectly as it should. I didn’t have a cold crunch with warm meat. Which is a personal peeve of mine.
To note other reviews. They are quite popular with great specials, so be sure to come early and check their Facebook page for stockouts and announcements.
I did have utensils and didn’t eat with my hands. Just to throw it out there from another review.
Lastly, Phil and Penny have made exciting changes for the better and it’s still getting better everyday so definitely don’t worry about the peak covid and before reviews.
Favorite was the brisket Mac for sure.

Great bbq! We got 2 small brisket sandwich combos, one with mac n cheese, one with baked beans. Everything was delicious, brisket was perfect!! 2 combos cost us 20$ with drinks. Will be back, sauces were amazing. Way better than the bbq joint around the corner

I Was in town for work and had a craving for some good ole pork bbq. Thank God for google!! The reviews were mostly good so I gave them a try. I ordered the pork bbq plate. It came with 2 sides (I chose beans and smoked mac and cheese) corn bread and a brownie for $17. The reviews spoke so highly of the sausage so I ordered the smoked sandwich for $9. It was topped with coleslaw and pickles. I also ordered sample cups of all of the bbq sauces. 50 cents each. Everything was pretty good. I’m from the east and we use a vinegar/hotsauce/red pepper based sauce on the pork vs a bbq sauce which was the base of all of the sauces. I do wish they would have had a vinegar based option. The smokiness was good. Mac and cheese was delicious, beans were decent cornbread was kinda sweet which I love. It may sound crazy but the star of the show was the brownie it had an amazing crust but was ooey gooey inside…overall good experience….expensive but pretty good!

Absolutely delicious BBQ. The chicken was moist and delicious and so was the brisket. Sometimes you go to BBQ places and the meat is dried out. Not the case here! The sides were good too especially the beans. Friendly staff. Worth a visit!

by far the best bbq we have had in the burlington area. the ribs, pulled pork and brisket are delish… but our surprise fave is the sausage! cornbread is perfect. our fave sides are the potato sald, slaw… and the beans are some of my husband’s fave beans ever. cant forget their sauces either… lovem all, especially northern gold.
