My review: Food was amazing, this is true authentic soul food. Nothing was too salty, everything had seasoning and an amazing taste. We had meatloaf, ribs, fried chicken, collard greens, Mac and cheese, beans, fried okra, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, roll and cornbread, peanut butter pie and coconut cream pie. Nothing and I mean nothing was bad, everything was amazing! The customer service, the staff was so sweet and asked us if we’ve ever been, we hadn’t so they showed us how to order properly. You don’t touch anything but grab the tray, they get the plates and serve you. The server was very attentive as well, she was even helping people with their trays to the table.
Now I’d like to address other people’s reviews.
I’ve seen people talk about the older gentleman that’s “rude” and “yells”. This man is an older African American man, he isn’t rude nor yelling, he’s speaking a bit louder for you to understand him through the glass and he’s trying to be quick so everyone can get through the line. Also anyone saying the food doesn’t taste good, I swear is lying! I have no ties to this restaurant not even this city, came in for a race and this food was absolutely amazing.
I can tell by the reviewers that left awful reviews were a certain palm color and it’s apparent they’ve never been around a black family or they wouldn’t speak on the man’s voice being “loud and rude” OR the food being “nasty” if you’ve never had melt in your mouth meats and SEASONED sides, just say that.
Every time I pass through Dade City my family and I will be back!
Also to add the price for all my food listed was $63.00 without tips, absolutely amazing price for great service and portions.

Steph’s Southern Soul Restaurant is a true gem! The food is flavorful, well-seasoned, and made with love. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home. Definitely a place I’ll return to!

I was told to visit the restaurant, and but the greens and chicken! I did just that I tried a variety of foods, such as ox tails and rice with mac and cheese, fried chicken, and baked beans. The salty crispy chicken, was a no for us. The greens (not it) the baked beans were a no! The sweet potato pie, banana pudding and pecan pie all have an aftertaste. My family was very disappointed. $73.00 spent in the worst way! I DO NOT RECOMMEND, that was our first and last time!

I wasn’t going to leave a review, but then I found a hair on my catfish..
This is the second time we have visited. I ordered a catfish with huspuppies, collard greens, Mac and cheese and a cornbread roll. My partner had fried chicken, mashed and gravy, green beans, and a roll. The main complaints were about the fried chicken (very dry) and the catfish (had a different taste, almost like dirty, and it was sitting in oil) and the collards were super salty. Im not leaving a review to complain (hence my 5 star review) but to hopefully allow steph’s room for growth.

The ladies serving do a good job. The food was ok. Not nearly as good as people say… our problem was the fried chicken. When we ordered fried chicken the man serving said it would be right out. We’ll bring it to you. We ordered our sides and payed. Taken back by the price. $42…..but paid and found a seat. We waited for our chicken and was told 3 times it would be out shortly. We’ll. 5 people came in, went threw the line and all had chicken breast!!! Exactly what we ordered….. we waited a good 20/25 min and still no chicken while others were still getting chicken breast!!! Our sides were getting cold and no one offered to get us fresh ones and still no chicken. We finally gave up. The man serving was walking through so the gentleman I was with stopped him and explained. He acted like he could care less even though we paid $42 for no meal!!! His only excuse was…it was a mistake….he would not comp the meal we didnt eat much less enjoyed…..I would not recommend this place. We drove out of our way and I would have surly treated first time customers a lot better. The meal certainly was NOT WORTH $42!!! Not a very God like why to treat customers!!!

I’m more disappointed in myself for not looking at the reviews before going. The only positive I can give is about the customer service. The ladies were nice and patient. But the Food! I don’t know how in the world this food can be called soul food when there is more seasoning on the table then in the food. The oxtail meal For $24.99 had more bone and fat than meat. The gravy tasted like it came from a can. The Mac N cheese was dry, greasy with barely any cheese and overcooked noodles. Green beans were dumped from a can with no seasoning. The fried chicken was dry as hell and had a ting of a catfish taste to it. They must cook them in the same oil, which I pray that’s not the case. I’m confused how this place has a 4.7 rating but this is the first and last they will see of me. 1.5 out of 10 highly DO NOT recommend.

Tried the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and beans as the sides. Chicken and beans were pretty good but I felt the Mac and cheese was fairly weak in comparison. The corn bread was also just ok. Also tried a slice of the red velvet cake which was delicious.

Food was delicious for the most part. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The others that I ate with have come here multiple times. The mac n’ cheese wasn’t great compared to the rest of the food. Your food is served from a line. Seating is a little limited inside and can be an issue when they are busy. There is outdoor seating.

We didn’t know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. It’s full service buffet style, where they serve you as you pick your main course and sides. Finish your meal off with a delicious dessert and drink. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. It’s a good value for the money. The ambiance is quaint, with local artists’ pictures displayed on the walls. More than half of their tables are window seats. The workers are friendly and fast. They were helpful, too.

When you first come in you are greeted. Which is nice. What I thought to be buffet it was not. It is not. It is like ordering from a menu but as they said school lunch type of ordering. I was not happy with my food. My husband ate all of his food and enjoyed it. What i ordered or what I chose. The meal allowed for two meats. I got chicken and the ribs. Some mash and Mac and cheese. Asked for corn bread. So let me start. I had a piece of my breast gave it to my husband I had the wing. The breast was moist taste was good well fried. The ribs also gave to my husband. The portion he got for the price we paid for his food is not correct for a good eater. They staff working the tables kept staying close and grabbing things from the table. She was just too close and I was feeling uncomfortable. She made me feel like when your at a Chinese buffet where they watch to make sure you don’t put food in your purse. The music was too loud. My husband to ask her to not take things from our table. Let’s get to the Mac & cheese. It was way soggy for me. Not wet with cheese but soggy like the noodles were over cooked. The corn bread was super dry and had no taste of corn. My husband ate some of the mash and Mac & cheese. But the he eats rocks. I left feeling very disappointed. And if I had eaten pounds and pounds of food. I felt botched. This is my opinion. I will not be back. So not worth it.
