Social Profile:

Step-Childe Harold is a neighborhood British pub rooted in history, community, and quality. Originally opened in 1967 as Childe Harold, this space became a gathering place for generations and welcomed legendary artists like Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and The Ramones — earning its place in DC’s cultural history. Today, Step-Childe Harold carries that legacy forward, honoring the original brand while bringing a fresh chapter to a storied space. With properly poured pints, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and classic pub fare in a relaxed, welcoming setting, we remain a place where good company and great atmosphere always come first.

Not at all a pub feel/ vibe. Based on the name and entrance i was expecting an English pub. Menu was entirely Asian (thai?) Food. There were a few pub items on a separate menu. Ordered sliders and got a single full sized burger. The food was good. Just not what we expected walking in. Lighting was way too bright for a pub. We had good food and a great story though.

The vibe was welcoming and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The issue I had is that this was undeniably the worst pint of Guinness I’ve ever seen or been served. I got two giving the first the benefit of the doubt and they were both brutal. Would love to come back if they learn how to pour a pint.

Step-Child Harold in Dupont is such a hidden gem. I loved the Pad See Ew from the kitchen upstairs—super flavorful and comforting. The martini deals during happy hour (until 9 PM!) are hard to beat—martini madness is real. Hands down the best espresso martinis in DC. The vibe is fun, relaxed, and perfect for larger groups too. Can’t wait to come back!

This is my go to bar, the staff always bring the energy, and make sure to take care of me. The bartender, Pearl, has my heart, and makes an excellent cocktail every time. Whenever I come in, I see her make drinks as fast as can be so everyone is taken care of immediately. The manager, Keanu, always makes sure to stop by and chat, great guy who really cares about his business and his customers. Hands down one of the best bars in DC, so cozy and still so much fun, the staff make it shine. This is a go-to stop if you’re visiting

I love coming to the Stepchilde! The bartenders Keanu, Pearl, and Lynn are the best! They always take great care of me! I’m obsessed with the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. I get it almost every day. The texture of the noodles and the spice are perfect. The service is phenomenal! The atmosphere is euphoric! The staff knows how to treat their guests and make you feel special. It’s like the bar from the show Cheers. When you’re here, you’re family.
