I have only ever eaten the same sandwich here for almost 10 years now, likely hundreds of corned beef specials. I have traveled more countries of the world than I have states in the United States, tasted hundreds of iterations of sandwiches. This is the best sandwich shop in the world. I believed it 10 years ago, I still believe it today. Happy Lundi Gras

I was not overly impressed with Stein’s Market and Deli on Magazine Street. The atmosphere is similar to a New York City deli with things crowded all over around a deli counter. The people are friendly, but it is definitely a self service environment. The food is okay but a bit bland for my taste. All of that said, they are extremely busy so a lot of folks must be very pleased with them.

On my birthday trip to New Orleans, my group was on a food journey through the city and this awesome little deli stood out as one of my favorite places. My brother wanted to go to District Donuts next door, which we did, and as we were sitting in the front, Stein’s beckoned me. I was dying to try their matzah ball soup and it was a beautiful creation. It had a surprising kick to it and the broth was full of flavor. There was one giant matzah ball, which was impressive to look at but it was pretty dense and lacked a little flavor. The broth, however, made up for it! Cool, established feeling place-definitely had an East Coast vibe.

We stopped at Stein’s while walking around the Garden District. Walking in, you feel like you’re in a New York Deli. There is limited seating, but people clear out fast enough it wasn’t an issue. We tried the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw on the seeded bread and the Robért. Both sandwiches were delicious and very filling. Great spot for a quick bite!

My wife and I walked for about an hour to get to this incredible deli, and it was so worth it!
It was just what we were hoping for in a New Orleans deli!
The atmosphere was just wonderful, and the sandwiches were simply amazing—made with such care!
You simply have to stop by this amazing spot in New Orleans, not just for the food, but for the whole experience!
