When we arrived at around 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, people were waiting outside, and the doors were just being opened. The staff handled the rush very professionally and quickly.
We had five people in our group, but I only managed to get a picture of two before they were gone. Yes, everyone in my group loved their sandwiches, but mine fell short, I’m afraid. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, and the chicken salad was just chicken and sweet mayo. No celery, no almonds, no grapes, no nothing. It was mushy, sweet, and flavorless besides that.
I hear they make their pimento cheese in-house, so that’s what I’ll try next time.

I am so absolutely sick of the attitude at this counter. On a different encounter I literally witnessed a poor woman being charged extra sauce for a salad that THEY messed up on. She was sweet as can be and tried explaining that she always gets two sauces for her salad and I guess they don’t “do that anymore”. So I spoke up and questioned how they actually were going to be that picky about the extra sauce that they just messed up on someone else’s salad….There is only one girl who’s always absolutely sweet and I haven’t seen her here in forever. Wish I could’ve remembered her name. I came up to the counter just now and they must’ve been having a bad day. Every single one of them. Didn’t even look me in the eye, smile or say hello. The aura in the room was tense already. I ordered a small cup of chicken salad and a large potato soup. All I did was ask the lady who prepped the chicken salad if normally it comes with a little lettuce at the bottom (it’s hit and miss, but I’ve received it like this on other occasions). Literally, just asking. And with a straight “I’m sick of this day already” face the lady replies with the infamous response, “We don’t do that here”. So unless there is another Steamboat with the same aesthetics and the same employees in the same town, I’m lying and absolutely losing my mind. She thought that I may have wanted a plate, but I said, no I only wanted a cup, but that sometimes I do see lettuce at the bottom and I was just wondering, since it’s hit and miss. She turned around to the food prep station and said, “Ok, whatever. ” A grown woman acting like a bratty teenager. I am so mad I’ve had to correct my grammar and punctuation on this review because I am just so blown away at this behavior. Don’t apologize, don’t even leave a response here. Just do better.

Staff very pleasant. No prices listed for sandwiches so we were shocked when are total came up to $40 for 2 sandwiches 2 drinks and 2 chips. When I made a remark they retotaled the amount and it turned out to be $30. Food wasn’t bad but not great. Certainly not worth the price.

Our first visit and it won’t be our last! Everything was top-notch. We had the BLT and it was so good and so fresh. They bake the bread for sandwiches themselves and it’s so soft. The restaurant; as well as, the restrooms were extremely clean! The ladies were all very kind and friendly even though it’s close to closing time.

Been buying sandwiches weekly for 6 months; They are pretty good. I was told my first visit I could order anything off the condiment list for the price of the sandwich which is what I have been doing including both a slice of American and a slice of Swiss! Today they mentioned they were charging me extra for extra cheese. I told them I didn’t order any extra cheese. They became very irate and huffy to which I reacted kindly that I was ordering as I had been advised when I first came; and that I didn’t want both American and Swiss if I was being charged extra.. One lady became very hostile to which I responded to her poor customer service skills in a like manner. Very disappointing as I had previously enjoyed their sandwiches and the lady who usually waits on me who wasn’t there today.

The place is quaint and seems nice. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich and got chicken mush that tasted like pure sugar, definitely the worst chicken salad sandwich I’ve had. Maybe the rest of the menu is better, hence 3 stars, even though my sandwich deserved 0.
