We were seated right away and got our drinks quickly. Received our starters quickly which were mussels in a lobster bisque/broth and milk bread. The bread was Devine and melted in your mouth with pops of salt and melted butter and served with soft butter and warm honey. This was to die for! The mussels were good, but the broth was a tad “fishy”, but overall was good.

We then sat for almost 15~20 minutes with the bowl of half eaten mussels and their shells in front of us. Many servers walked past and looked at our table, but none came to clear our table. Not until our main course came out.

Our main course was filet mignon and rib eye. With a side of sautéed carrots and gnocchi in a cream sauce. Everything tasted good, but I had to wait about 5 minutes longer for my steak to be delivered to me, so I told my husband to start eating his steak while it was still hot.

Overall it was a nice experience, lovely ambience and good food, but my only complaint was the service, or lack thereo at keeping the table cleared of used dishes and not making sure everyone was served at the same time. Oh, it was a bit loud with everyone trying to talk and be heard, but you can’t change that.

We both got steaks

The happy hour here is one of of our group’s favourites: fresh, flavourful Oysters, delicious Hamachi Crudo and flatbreads and this is where I had my first and not my last French 75 cocktail. Perfect place to hang out with friends – great service. I’m not a huge fan of the decor as it’s a bit too rustic for me but the cabin feel definitely appeals to the rest of the crew.

Josh the waiter asked me how the food? I replied, I’m licking the bowl 🙂 started with some delicious oysters with the house sauce that’s to die for. Make sure to add some kick with the horseradish. Then some fresh raw tuna for antipasto followed by the butternut squash soup and the French onion soup for some pleasures in your pallet. The lamb meatballs with the house pomodoro sauce is exquisite. Finished with the pomodoro bolanesse pasta. I’m highly recommending this place for a lovely night out with your love. Enjoy the magnificent food and some whisky too. Glad I came after asking about seven locals where to find a good soup 🙂 by the way no 1 knew where to find one… glad my baby found the spot for us. Definitely coming back for our anniversary.

We had an amazing meal here. We were visiting Hermosa Beach from NYC (a place that has no shortage of amazing restaurants). Highlights were the happy hour deals (available at all seats –> not just the bar as in many other places). The shrimp cocktail was delicious (special shoutout to the cocktail sauce that included horseradish for a pleasant kick). My ribeye was slightly overcooked (ordered medium-rare and it came out medium/medium-well) … BUT it was seasoned and seared so beautifully that it still wound up DELICIOUS. We had a great experience and came back for happy hour each of the 2 other nights we were in Hermosa Beach.

The food was great the service was not. One staff memeber in particular was rude and unhelpful. And while the food was great, I don’t think it’s worth it for me to go back.

Happy hour deals are amazing. 2$ oysters that were great, 10 cocktails (if you like whiskey) and the happy hour menu has incredible fresh dishes that aren’t huge portions (but very high quality) so you can try things with someone on a date. They have a TV at the bar showing NFL games but the ambience and vibe is welcoming and cozy.

Perfect sunset view with great food. With outdoor dining, the sloped street provides a stunning sunset view. We dined here last night with our daughter and her boyfriend. We had a great time while enjoying the food and the view.

The service here was excellent with our waiter constantly checking on us to see if we need anything and timely taking our orders and bringing food out. With his recommendation, we had a perfect meal.

Before talking about the main dishes, I have to mention that their house bread here is to die for. Crusty hot bread with honey butter is a perfect combination. You got to order that if you dine here.

With the restaurant name after steak, we can’t have dinner here without trying their steak. The ribeye steak we ordered was perfectly cooked to medium. The flavor of the steak was fantastic. The meat was tender and flavorful. I loved it.

The scallop dish was also heavenly. Butterly flavor created an amazing dish. This dish is not to be missed from you meal. It pairs perfectly with the steak.

All the side dishes such as lobster macaroni and Brussels sprouts were very good. They went well with our main dishes.

Although we didn’t order any cocktails or whisky, but from the extensive drink menu, we could tell the restaurant has very good selections of drinks. We ended up ordering a Malbec red wine to pair with our steak. It was good.

Parking is a bit challenging on the weekend. Street parking with meters is limited. You can still find parking a couple of streets down close to the beach in a parking structure.

Everything on the menu was delicious.

We stopped by for brunch last Saturday and had a wonderful time. The service was impeccable, we had champagne and ordered most of the menu (we were celebrating!)

Oysters are always my favorite and I love them here. The lobster was cooked to perfection, scallops might have been my favorite thing we ate. It was a special occasion and I can’t wait to have another excuse to go back!

Steak & Whisky is a unicorn.

For a South Bay restaurant, it provides an extraordinary experience:

1. The friendliness and attentiveness of the service staff — form the greeter to the bartender to the wait staff — made my time at the restaurant fly by — my suggestion: sit at the bar, and have a great conversation with not only the staff but other patrons;

2. The drinks — a variety of top shelf Bourbon — made my party and me stay longer than expected (the reasoning: why go to another place when this bar has everything we need; there is also special lockers that I appreciate) — – my suggestion ask Connor, Issac, Grant or Jack to set you up with “his choice,” these guys are professionals ; and

3. We were presently surprised by the food — we had a tomahawk, seafood tower and other apps; everything was to our liking — my suggestion: order that happy hour burger (superb).

Thanks for such a great time.

The ambience was great & the service was excellent. The Happy Hour menu was a nice taste of stuff. The hamburger is not the business with these nasty pickles. Why not just throw some fries next to it? The oysters are great at $1 & the bread from regular menu is AMAZING! $9, order it!
