I used to love Steak N Shake. I’ve been to this one 3 times and I’ll never go back. This last time we ordered a taco salad and a triple burger. The burger had nothing on it, I requested pepper jack cheese, lettuce and mayo. I also didn’t get the fries that goes with the $5.49 burger. My taco salad though, that’s what did it. There was nothing but lettuce and crispies on it. This cost almost $15.00. For a burger and bowl full of lettuce.

Me and my wife stopped in for a quick bite. Our waitress was trying her best but kept apologizing for how long it was taking to get our food. The manager and other employees were busy talking to each other and rather loudly. No one was busting tables after they all stood there and talked about not having clean tables. When customers came in, employees including the manager would just look at them and then walk away ignoring them. After our meal we decided to order a couple of milkshakes, but after 20 minutes of waiting we decided to just pay our bill and leave. We definitely won’t be back. I recommend the staff be re-trained or terminated and start over with a total new crew. After today it really shows that upper management really doesn’t care how the customer service is as long as money is going into the bank account.

Visited new years Eve. Staff of five people and due to poor management, the employees had to work twice as hard not to drown in the customers coming in. It was a sad sight. Kitchen was a wreck with fries and trash all over the floor. Amazingly, the two cashier’s were staying positive despite the wreck their manager was neglecting while she was on her phone. Waiting 40 minutes for a milk shake is ridiculous. With management like that, I don’t understand how this location is still open.

Eventually, at about 9pm (we walked in at about 8:15) the manager told the cashier’s to stop taking orders, even though they close at 11. They weren’t/that/ busy! Just had a rush. I’ve dealt with way worse with less people at a pizza place I used to work at. Honestly a sad sight, and absolutely the managers fault.

Simply awful.

My wife and I went last night after a very long day, just wanted something quick and tasty and then to head home. When we got there the place was not busy at all, fully staffed, and quiet. No one talked to us for more than 5 minutes after we were seated, though we could see them just sitting in the back chatting. When we were finally able to order our food, it was decent. However I did not receive my shake until 10 minutes after I had finished my meal. When it finally did arrive it was warm and soupy. We could see it waiting on the counter for our ever texting waitress for 5 minutes.

When we tried to leave, the doors were locked. It wasn’t even 10 PM, this is a 24 hour restaurant. We were literally locked inside. This place is an absolute joke and we will be messaging corporate.

We will never return, which is a pity as we generally very much enjoy this chain.

This place is always bad but it’s the closest one to my house currently. The service is slow and inattentive. Multiple times I’ve been seated and then never given a drink. But I keep going back for those fries.

The tables and chairs are always dirty. Even when they see me start to brush it off they don’t bother to help clean it themselves. Silverware and straw wrappers all over the floor.

Go to literally any other Steak ‘n Shake. Please.

Price, due to using 3 coupons in one order, which I applaud them for not making a fuss over coupon use in one visit, was good. Order was not too complex, but when ordering 3 meals, with a coupon per meal, normally will throw most fast food joints off drastically, was still incorrect. Food was tasty, price was right, and service was decent, but I paid for an extra cheese cup that I did not receive. I ordered pickle on the burgers, which again, I did not receive, along with onions on one burger I did not order. The itemized receipt was correct, which I checked up on leaving the drive-thru, but the order lacked a few items and and incorrect item. All in all, I have worked a few fast food jobs in my day, and never found it as difficult as they made it to make the order correct. Better luck next time, I guess. Don’t expect bad or completely ignorant service upon a visit here, though I would check your order and not your receipt when visiting this location.

I walked in and there was at least 7 tables. They had two waitresses. I waited over 10 minutes to be acknowledged (which never happened) even though they made direct eye contact with me multiple times. However when I walked out someone was quick to unlock the door to let me out (he beat me there). There is obviously very poor management and even poorer customer service. I would’ve been happier if they would have at least acknowledged me and told me that they were not taking any more orders instead of letting me stand there.

This is by far the worst Steak n’ Shake in Louisville. Not only has the food been terrible EVERY TIME I’ve been here, but the service is equally as bad. I’ve tried to chalk it up to it being just a bad experience and given it another try far more times then it deserves, and it just gets worse everytime. I will not be back!!! Tried to bring this to the attention of the manager who had to remove one of our meals from our ticket that we sent back and didn’t eat, but he cared less than our waitress did. One star is far too generous for this establishment!!!!

We got lucky with a good server. She was amazing! But the manager was a but questionable…she didn’t treat her employees very well. I’m only giving my server a good review. I don’t remember her name but she had long pretty braids and was so sweet. Other than that, I would only give 1 star….

The food was great! The service was horrible and so was the wait. I sat at the drive-thru speaker for at least 10 minutes before I was greeted and asked to wait another 10 minutes to have my order taken. Once I ordered I sat in the drive thru for an additional 15 minutes. If I had not promised my children Steak and Shake for dinner I would have never waited for my food. This is a consistent issue at this location, the food is always good but you have to be prepared to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get it.
