I’m not sure what’s changed in the last month or two, but the last few experiences have not been good. I ordered a garlic horseshoe, and it has little to no cheese sauce. I decided to give another try 2/23, and I get another garlic horseshoe again and the burgers are over cooked and there’s no bread? How do you serve a horseshoe without bread. That’s literally 1/4 of the main things in a horseshoe. Sad as I use to really enjoy the garlic horseshoes. Guess I’ll have to figure out another way unless miraculously the service gets better.

I ate at the N Dirksen establishment on 2-17-26 . I ordered a ponyshoe. The cheese sauce was orange ,gritty ,and cold. I asked if I could change my order because it tasted horrible. The woman screamed from the back that it was the only cheese sauce they had and that she cant remake it. She was very rude and condescending when I just wanted to have a burger instead. I was very nice and couldn’t understand why she was so rude.

Cold fries, over seasoned burgers, my small chocolate shake was given to me as a kids shake with leftover mint taste from my wife’s oreo mint shake. Make it the normal chocolate shake first or clean your equipment. We both are disappointed. neither of us finished our food and it was almost $40. This place has gone so far down hill. You used to go in there to a packed crowd and have great food and service with real silverware, now we have teenagers and plastic bowls.

the burgers are always delicious, favorite of mine is the mushroom swiss burger and the western.
i highly recommend getting their horseshoes with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and fresno sauce (with the cheese sauce as well). its so good! remember to get a drink.
everything goes great with their shakes as well.

Photos attached: The floors were dirty. Bathrooms both mens and womens beyond gross. Mustard and ketchup bottles all dirty. Mustard had a huge clump of hard mustard come out. The waitress forgot my coleslaw and mayo. She quickly fixed in. They were out of lemon. The piece of lettuce was a tiny little piece that covered only a quarter of the sandwich. Food seemed to just be slapped on the plate. Presentation just was not the normal stake n shake. Photos attached.
Came back 2 weeks later. It was much cleaner. Bathrooms were spotless. Food what plated beautifully and was cooked perfect. Great improvement!!!

Fast service, hot food and thick shake. It’s good talking to people taking your order because the steak n shake in rosemont Illinois you place your order on a computer screen and they call your name when it’s ready. No more people interaction. This was nice and friendly. Thanks.

Love the staff here. Staff taking out order was chill and kind. When they brought out our food and neither they nor we said it was for carry out, they repackaged our order super quick. Food was good…chili, steak burger, & grilled cheese. Love the milkshake.

Not the same! Very limited menu. The chili is not the same and tasteless. The burger was fine. The floor is tacky which is never good.
One bright spot was the young gentleman behind the counter. Very nice and respectful.

The man at the counter was super nice. Everyone had a great aditude, was friendly. The new fries were a pleasant surprise. This was the best experience I’ve had at a Stake n Shake in YEARS. Keep up the good work. I do miss the old wait staff but still a great place to be
