I left a 1 star review 5 years ago, and I wanted to come back to say that I am so happy that things have turned around since then. I have visited a few times this year and the consistency has been top notch. The new management has been great. The staff is friendly (James is absolutely delightful!) And the food quality has significantly improved. I love the beef tallow fries, and I buy a jar of tallow every 2 weeks to cook with at home. Thank you all for your hard work and making this location a great place to eat once again!!

The food didn’t take long coming out that was awesome. Most Steak n Shakes I go to forget some things on the order but they didn’t.
It was delicious.
You could feed this to homeless people and they’d love it.

Nice place, great service. A bit dated on the inside but nothing crazy. The food was great and we received it quickly while it was hot. Everyone we interacted with was super nice, we were greeted when we came in the door and when we left. Would definitely go back.

We came here for dinner around 6:30. I didn’t get the best picture but we ordered a drink, fries, onion rings, double garlic steak burger, a Frisco burger, extra sauces (ranch and Frisco).
It only took 5 minutes to get our order, which beats most fast food places I’ve been to recently. They made our order correctly, the dining area is CLEAN and properly stocked with the napkins, condiments and such. An employee was out cleaning and wiping the drinks area several times, it’s as if the employees here actually care about the way they do their jobs. My pre-tip total was $20.70 for 2 people which happens to be about the same or cheaper than many other places around especially for food like this.
You can clearly see how they have kept costs down to offset the rising prices a bit by eliminating the cash register positions and adding the scanner on the fountain drinks. (If you haven’t seen these yet, don’t worry, someone will show you what to do)
This is a great experience and doesn’t seem to deserve a 3.9 rating. It deserves a full parking lot. Employees from competitors should be coming here to see what it looks like when a job is done right. Well done

I arrived at 9:35am knowing they didn’t open until 10am. At 10:02am, I tried to get in the door and it was locked so I looked up the number and I called. A guy answered and I asked what time do you open and he said 10am. I said your doors are still locked. He said oh and hung up. At 10:04am, he came to the doors to unlock them. He went to the other door first and unlocked it which I think was rude because he could have went to the door I was standing at to unlock it first but he didn’t, then he came to the door I was standing at and unlocked it. He did not great me, he did not say anything. I said thank you and he still did not say anything. This guy is dressed all in black. He told a guy to get the rugs out. I am standing at the front waiting for someone to greet me or seat me and no one is so I start walking to a seat and a guy with the rugs walks by and I asked do I seat myself and he says “what”? I asked do I seat myself? He didn’t say anything. I asked can I sit anywhere and he said yes so I go sit at a table and I’m waiting for someone to come by. The guy in black comes up and ask if I’m waiting for someone and I said no, I just would like a menu and he said oh we don’t have menus, you would have to go up front and order on the kiosk. I said oh ok. I’m sorry I haven’t been to this Steak and Shake before. I’m not from here. I said I will look and see what you have and I will go up and order. He said ok so I started to look on my phone at the menu. All of this I did not like and when he did not unlock the door I was at first and instead he unlocked the other door I was not at, I just put in my coat and I walked out. I won’t be back at this place again. I just moved to Muncie and I was happy to have a Steak n Steak again but I won’t be back. I have uploaded a picture of where I had to call and ask what time do you open because the doors were not unlocked at the open hours.

Bought 2 burgers yesterday 2.7.26 at 12:49pm . We got our burgers and drove off. We opened it up to eat it and there were just meat and bread. Nothing else. This is the 2nd time in two weeks. It stems down to bad training/ mentorship and stupid/lazy people. But it ultimately starts at the top. Culvers would like to thank the stupid and lazy workers at Steak and shake for the free advertisement. “Culvers! We do it right!”. Unless your in Muncie, then its a 50 50 chance. How did Indiana get here?

I’ve ate at Steak N Shake restaurants all over the the united states , one of the best restaurants in the business, But sadly they aren’t what they once was, No Customer service, This Muncie location is the worse I’ve ever experienced by far, Very Sarcastic Staff, very Rude Manager, Food was terrible, they don’t honor Military discount as Steak n Shake advertises , every thing is self serve, they should allow you to prepare you’re food , maybe then it would be fit to eat ..This location Needs to be shutdown

So disappointed Steak n Shake are all kiosk!!! There is no Customer service just get your name called out to go grab your food….. very sad there is absolutely no interaction with customers. Food was not good! A guy just walked around with hands in his pocket, never spoke, then stood up by front door leaning on counter.
