Social Profile:

Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Counter-serve chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offers a dinerlike space with retro flair.

This location seems to be much better than the Plainfield location.

I was not a fan of the order kiosk and the self serve drink area. No one explained that you have to scan the receipt for your drinks and it’s on a timer. The timer was cutting off the drink before I was able to get any drinks into the cups. So I was trying to put the soda into the cup and the machine wouldn’t turn on. I assumed that beverage was just out of carbonation or something and wasn’t going to get a drink but a kind woman behind me explained it’s times and to rescan the receipt.

When our meal arrived we started eating and of course the food was good. My husband asked if any sauce came with his food, I said I didn’t think so and I got up to ask, my daughter was also missing her sauce, neither of the kids meals came with it but I must not have added sauce to the meal at the kiosk. They no longer carry the chiles in vinagre and the man who was up walking around said that I could purchase a buffalo sauce. I went back to the kiosk and purchased my .50 cent sauce and then waited for the item. Another ten minutes pass and I flag down a worker to ask for the sauce we ordered but by that point my husband was already done with his meal.

I think this would have been a much better experience if we had an actual waiter instead of waiting around for technology to keep up with the people.

The food was good, nothing notable. Tasted just like Steak ‘n Shake.

I’ve been to this Steak ‘n Shake many times, both inside and drive-thru. This is the first time I’ve used delivery. I have the same problem that I do almost every time I’ve been through drive-thru….they forget to put the cup of cheese sauce in my bag! Cheese fries is now a menu item and they still forget the cheese. So what am I supposed to do? I called the store 4x and the phone rang for a full 2 min with no one ever answering. Very very disappointing. I ordered delivery because I’ve had the flu and didn’t want to spread it.
My double steak burger was very good and well made though. Thank you. Driver followed delivery instructions just right. Thank you!

First time visit.

When you enter you have to place your order on a kisok now for dine in. But, a lady offered help if we needed it.

After the order was placed drinks were in the open, you have to scan a barcode to make machine work.

Our order was brought to the table.

The food and shakes were great quality!

We had interactions with three different employees and all were friendly, helpful, and courteous.

I hope othe Steak and Shakes can replicate what this location is doing.

Great Job!

This is my third Steak N Shake review. This is my absolute favorite if I had to pick.

I’ve been watching the progress of this store. So much faster and cleaner every time I go.

The staff is friendly and I love the new picnic tables. The classic car show on Friday makes for an easy visit.

Best team ever. I can’t wait to come back and food was to die for. We were a big family and they somehow managed to bring food out, talk to us, and make sure my family was enjoying the service here. Been to many steak n shakes but overall I think this is the best one in Indiana.

The food is always amazing. However, I was bummed when I realized that there aren’t any more waitresses. You order from a kiosk, you get your own drink, napkins etc. We moved back from Florida and they still have waitresess, no kiosk, no self serve drink station. No longer feels like a sit down family restaurant, feels like a fast food place that has a dine in area. Very disappointing

I was hoping for more. It’s been a good while since I have been to a Steak and Shake. I didn’t think they would get worse. You now order on a machine, the drink machine requires a scan tag to get a drink and refill now and they charge for sauces that should be included with the food you purchased. Ex. Chicken Tenders… So, it’s another .52 cents after tax for each extra sauce. The food is already too expensive for what it is. It was once an actual nice diner to eat at, and you had a waitress. Now pretty much everything is automated and they still charge more, and it asks for a tip. I probably won’t be eating here anymore.

This place has really gone downhill. My wife and I have gone there for the last time. First annoying thing is the drink process. I have to scan a paper to get my drink. If I go for a refill to early it will either not give me a drink or fill my cup just a little bit. At $2.65 for a small cup, I want a refill!! 2nd they use to have the season salt on the table. Not anymore. They hide it behind the counter. I asked the lady if I could have 4-5 (for the people at the table) and she gave me 3. Then when we are done I have to manage putting all the greasy papers with ketchup on it in the trash in a little 6 inch hole. The waitress wanted nothing to do with talking to us. I see no reason to ever go back.
