Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steak burger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steak burgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steak burgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.
Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

Reviews
Only thing was place to eat, some may call dining area was a little dirty and floor slippery.
Overall, solid.
All those BTCers out there. They take bitcoin for payment!
Service 5 stars.
Overall experience 5 stars
Nothing compares to the taste of their hamburgers. Exceptional!
The drive through service was so friendly. Our number one pick in Middletown for fast food.
Highly recommend!
So I walk in and stand at the front desk for like 5 minutes until one of the employees says “you have to use the keiosk” the moment I heard that I looked around and there are 2 terminals that only take card then a third that is out of view subconsciously attempting to push the use of card and bitcoin of all things only.
Next the experience using this fancy very very “convenient” choice of technology I was advertised to like 3 times to sign up for some rewards crap, along with an app.. and I spent 4 times longer ordering my food than you know just telling someone who’s whole job is relaying it to the kitchen… That’s not even the end of it. THIS STUPID MACHINE ASKS ME TO LEAVE A TIP!?! WHAT!!? DUDE I DROVE THERE PLACED MY ORDER AND WAITED 30min for below average food and the inanimate object asks me to TIP IT!??? HELLO? What an insult. I tip high quality SERVICE not lazyness. Not takeout. And least of all A MACHINE!!
They should have tipped me I was the one serving myself but no I get asked to tip a freaking glorified tablet running some business version of windows OS and a generic restaurant app.
TLDR: Just avoid any restaurant that forces no cash and keiosks its destroying high quality service while also handing over control to digital currencies and credit based currencies whoes whole goal is to take away your power as a consumer. Do not support this business model if you care about authentic and high quality service wherever you go. I had the same soulless treatment at a taco bell not long ago.
Remove the keiosks and focus on treating customers with respect for being the ones keeping you around and I’ll give it another shot but anywhere implementing this sort of animal treatment of their customers will not recieve my business again! At least having a friendly experience would cushion the poor food quality however walking away I felt worse than I did when I walked in.
I am being hard on things like this because I actually DO care about restaurants like this one.
A major shift in service is occuring. Simple things once taken for granted like a greeting and someone seating you, paying WITH CASH are dieing yet we pay more and are expected to tip… DESTROY TIPPING CULTURE especally when no one is serving you.
Please fix these things you can do it, such a shame compared to what this restaurant used to be.
Unfortunately in recent events, I’ve noticed a steep decline in service. Stale/cold fries, drinks not visibly full, and apparently no employee has any familiarity with the app? Why even have the app then??
$20 for just two burgers, drinks and fries is crazy, especially given the recent decline in service.
