Food was amazing, ready and super hot in 5 minutes. With that said this is opinion only.. but I walk in to a kiosk to order my food and notice everything I see is self serve on trays no more table condiments.. bright servers and Happy smiles are a thing of the past that made this place worth the visit soda fountain is confusing on your very first visit I miss the old days but the service was way faster

Have you been to a Steak ‘n Shake lately? Wow, does it suck. They totally changed their concept. We used to love going there and having complete table service, with cute little, black and white branded dishes, and actual glasses and taking your check up to pay. Now, its all counter order at a kiosk, they shout out your order number when ready, and they give you a plastic basket with your food in it, and a paper cup for the self-service soda dispenser where you have to use the QR code on your receipt to activate the fountains. Wow. They have ruined what used to be a fun experience. I may never go back. Hated it.

Steak and Shake is a nice place to go after church. We went with our extended family and had a good time with good food. We all ordered kids meals, cause we are cheap. It was actually good and filling. I am not a frequent visitor to the place and it has changed. I remember each table or group would have a wait staff. That is long gone. You have to order your own food and they give a QR code to scan for drinks. So gone are the free refills. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way, how many people are taking advantage of the free refills? I would go again, but missed not having interactions with the staff. Even at other fast food there is more interactions and smiles. I guess this is what the future looks like.

Steak ’n Shake provides a solid dining experience with quality food and friendly service. The burgers were well prepared, the shakes were excellent, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. However, the wait time was a bit longer than expected, and one of the sauces was missing from my order. While these were minor issues, the overall experience was still positive. With slightly faster service and more attention to order accuracy, it would easily earn a five star rating.

Excellent service. By the time I ordered it and they swiped my card they were already handing me the bag. On top of that, they didn’t just throw it in they put it in the bag properly. Everything I ordered turned out the way I ordered it and the food was fresh and delicious.
My wife ordered a chicken tender 5 piece meal with only fries and I ordered the frisco just the sandwich and the bacon cheeseburger just the sandwich. They couldn’t have done better especially in the amount of time and I’m impressed. Five stars!

I did a couples photography session at the Columbus Steak ’N Shake, and it was such a fun spot! The couple enjoyed a delicious meal and milkshakes, which made for the cutest photos. The classic diner vibe added a unique touch to the experience—definitely a great place for to grab a burger, fries and shake!

This place use to be awesome but lately its been terrible and tonight was the worst. This happened on Jan 5th 2026 at around 10:30pm. Entire staff couldn’t speak English. We were very polite and patient while they were trying to figure out what we were ordering while yelling at us. We ordered two #1s with cokes and a kids cheeseburger and a kids hotdogs. For the life of them they couldn’t figure out how to give us just a kids cheeseburger and hotdog without drinks or fries. We didnt want a kids meal they kept arguing we had to get a drink with it. I even said just charge us whatever and give us just the cheeseburger and the hotdog that we didnt want any fries or drinks with it. They yell at us to hurry up and pull forward. We pay and check our bag and hotdog and receipt are missing. We tell them this and they say to pull back around. So we do and wait in line again to which another person gets on the intercom and proceeds to yell at us that we didnt pay for the hotdog and we must pay all in broken English so we pull to windows and ask to get our receipt that they refused the first time we asked and they refused again and said pay or leave. And we paid the 5 dollars and they proceeded to throw the bag into our car and slam the windows shut and at this point I’m beyond pissed. We were polite, we pulled back around we were understanding we spoke slowly since they clearly had a hard time with English and then to treat us like garbage not once but twice is completely unacceptable. Will never go back here. Highly recommend going elsewhere until they get better staff. The man and woman working there were rude and disrespectful. Food was garbage too

Wonderful experience. This place has adapted well to short staffing by going to self ordering on the kiosk which was simple and I got to customize easily. We sat down and the drinks are self serve so you can get refills as you want. The food was delicious and accurate. Restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. Great spot.
