What a fantastic restaurant! The salad was very fresh and varied, and the steak was juicy and cooked to perfection.

What a weird and wonderful place!
Such a different vibe to most steakhouses I’ve been to but honestly we were very impressed! Service was excellent, you can walk up and choose your steaks from the fridge.

We ordered a porterhouse and a T-Bone, we read previous reviews about them tending to under cook the steaks a bit so we ordered medium-rare as rare steak lovers. If you are the kind of person who freaks out about undercooked steak maybe ask for medium – steaks 1″ thick will always have variation throughout when cooked on an open grill!

The steaks are THICK, so this worked out well, we had nice medium rare on the edges and rare inside as expected! They came slathered in sauce of our choice and we ordered a big bowl of chips!

We also ordered a prawn cocktail which came with incredibly fresh king prawns and some standard seafood sauce!

Overall a fantastic experience! We will be back for sure!

As a regular to the Steak Bank, I can fully recommend this restaurant. Very generous steaks in all prime cuts and grilled to perfection. The chips and superb mixed salads are a great accompaniment. TSB is also BYO (and fully licensed), which is a rarity in quality steak restaurants. Keep up the great work John!

Well cooked steaks and friendly service. Owner is friendly and makes sure you are comfortable and everything is to your liking. He knows how to grill.

However. Whoever made the salads should not be in the kitchen. Shaved carrot and some sliced cabbage? There was also some cauliflower in there. Also some corn cut off the side of a cob as a slab. A garden salad, while technically could be just whatever grows in your garden, should not be worse than something your down-sydrome brother in law pulled out of the neighbours garden, punched a few times and then threw into a bowl.

The chilli prawns were rubbery and just prawns served over chicken booster rice, with some budget bottled sweet chilli sauce thrown over the top. Not recommended.

The grilled saganaki was not even slightly grilled. It’s like they just melted it and were afraid to even brown / crisp it. It was a slab of slightly melted cheese.

Go there for the overpriced but well cooked steaks. Don’t eat the salad. Don’t order entrees.

The steaks are great, however, the service was confused (I got my wife’s steak, and she got mine for example), many things were on the menu but they ran out of them, the chairs were wobbly to say the least and furnitures generally weren’t in good condition, and the place was rather noisy despite not having too many people there and despite the music not being loud.
The chips (or fries in American) were pretty good and the salad was mediocre

Good vibes and good food!
Garlic bread is surprisingly tasty, we order a scotch fillet which is the special for the day with pepper sauce and a porterhouse sirloin with mushroom sauce, the steak is juicy with good control of doneness, if the sauce can be served on side then everything will be perfect. Definitely will be another round there!

Even tho the food arrived fairly quick, that was the worst meal I ever had in my life.
The owner saw we didn’t touch the food, didn’t offer any replacement and just said he sold 7 of the same steaks and everyone enjoyed, so we are the problem.
The steak was low quality for my understanding, and the mushroom sauce was terrible.
The chicken bbq had a lemoni taste that was not to my liking. 2/10.

The salad was pretty bad as well.
250 dollars for a horrible meal. Shame.
I think the owner should understand the situation and offer at list a dessert or partial refund .

The lady suggested we might have ordered too much food and that the only one thing positive happened that night. Unfortunately I didn’t listen to her and lost all my money for food I didn’t enjoy.
Save yourself guys and give this place a miss.

If you’re a foodie, love steak, then this has to be on the top of the list of restaurants in Melbourne. Not only is the steak top class the building is really cool. It was actually an old bank and the owners have filled it up with every bank related sign and machine you can imagine. Just when you think you’ve seen everything, 5 minutes later something else cool catches your eye. I’m only going to post pictures of my meal because I don’t want to spoil the surprise for you but it’s definitely a must visit. I had one of the best bbq baby octopus entree, then I had a fillet Mignon for main, as chef recommended, medium rare. And it was sensational ❤️
PS. They have a few few fish specials too

We have made it a tradition that any time we visit Australia, we MUST stop in here & get such incredible food from John. Last night (December 6, 2023) 10 of us went back to Steak Bank & had the MOST INCREDIBLE food and service – again!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough to do it justice? It’s a must.

Came for Christmas dinner celebrations. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Great food. The waitress was very accommodating and helpful, made our night! So good in fact that I forgot to take photos of the mains!
