It used to be one of our favorite spots to eat, but this visit was disappointing. The drinks tasted like cheap, overly strong well liquor, and the only thing that still reminded us of the old Starters was the bread. I really hope the owners take some time to bring the place back to the quality and experience it once had, because as it stands now, we probably won’t be back.
Additionally, if you sit at the bar it’s always a black woman bartender there with a NASTY attitude always. My server was arguing with him also as I sat there. Also you’ll know all their personal business as they tend to you and talk and argue while they’re supposed to be working.
Anyone that goes to starters often know exactly what im talking about. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The chicken nachos had no onion, was drowned in the thickest of generic bland nacho cheese and the chicken was clearly cubed dry frozen grilled chicken. It reminded me of dog food. The cubes of chicken and the pool of nacho cheese was off putting. After the second time of having to unhinge my mouth like a snake just to eat a nacho I was over it plus the rest of my food was getting cold.
The table was over crowded as well, I wish dishes that were clearly finished were cleared from the table. The empty bread basket, the used dishes put at the edge of the table…….idk what the system was, but I’m straight on it. The happy hour wings were rubbery and gross. I only ordered them because I asked for another order of fries for my youngest and it was a soft suggestion for my waitress. I wish I would’ve never agreed to. He got the wings, but the fries I originally asked for I had to inquire about again and they came as a to go cuz I was already over it. My oldest son quesadilla was made with the same big cubes of chicken as my nachos, he ate some but the bulk of his order he packed up and took home as well as mine. He only ate his sweet potato fries which I had to inquire about the dipping sauce when our waitress finally appeared. The mashed potatoes with my lamb chops were GROSS, bland and tasted like they were made from flakes, the lamb was cold. The asparagus was gross too. My youngest had a burger and fries he was the only person that really ate while there. My oldest did not like the crab cakes or the Mac and cheese, both were bland.
I guess location really does matter because Starters on Plymouth has by far been my best experience as far as food and ambience. Southfield is nice as well, but I definitely prefer Plymouth. This Woodward location, had I stopped in the bathroom first I would’ve never ordered tbh. Maybe I’m not being critical enough, but the service from our waitress was definitely lacking compared to what I seen with other tables. It did not reflect appropriately in my tip because I was just wrapping up a day out with my kids and wasn’t on that type of time fr.
Over all the food was gross and the service from our waitress wasn’t good. I would NEVER recommend this location to anyone. Definitely fumbled because my son asked for McDonald’s and I thought this would give the boys more options, my boys are 15 for context and we’d just came from a museum
The Starter’s employee’s response was “I hear you.” Her TONE had emphasis on “HEAR” & was still DRY & ANNOYED. After beginning to place the order this lady was being rude. I then took the phone, & placed the order.upon arrival I SAW her on the phone taking another order, & couod see that –she is simply has a nasty disposition. She spoke to them the same way, & clasped/folded her lips into her mouth after every short one word monotoned DRY answer she gave them. She was(is) just miserable, ignorant, & nasty.
With all of the “SMART” antics; the LEAST her kind can do is: GET THE ORDER CORRECT.
“WELL DONE: was the request; yet
— the meat was PINK. PINK MEAT is literally against my Religion.
–The sides were NOT in the bag,
–nor wwre the two SALADS that _come with_ it. I noticed the sides, but didnt think of the SALADS until I was home.
