We ordered takeout and they missed a few things, but we are a big order and they corrected the mistake quickly and politely. The food was very good, I especially enjoyed the chicken taquitos. I would recommend if you are on the island and looking for an American type Mexican restaurant.

Food flavor was great, but the fajitas plate was $25 and only had like 7 fajitas strips, 3 more people around us ordered the same sizzling fajitas and agreed the meat was not enought for the cost of the plate, ive ordered the swiss enchiladas and the waitress brought me red enchiladas and told her the green ones are swiss and she said i was wrong that it was called something else hehee. Anyways, the beans and rice were delicious.

The food is mediocre at best. It wasn’t bad but if you’re looking for “WOW”, this isn’t it. The staff was shorthanded so we waited 20 minutes to be seated to a somewhat empty dining area. If their staff was all there, the service would have been better, just bad timing on my part I guess. All in all it wasnt a bad experience but definitely could have been better.

We ate here three times on our week long vacation to South Padre. When we return next summer we will definitely eat here again. The service was great from Jacob. I got the green enchiladas all three times because they were so good! The chips and salsa they bring out are very fresh every time! Would definitely recommend!

Our server was the best part about dining here. He was sweet & attentive.
The food looked deceptively impressive upon arrival, but the complimentary chips & salsa was the best part of meal & it was ok. My half roasted chicken was dry & everything was flavorless, it literally couldve been improved easily with some salt or salsa over everything. My corn tortillas were hard & dry. My husband’s meal was slightly better. If you like quantity over quality, this is your place.
My iced tea tasted like mildew & so did my husband’s water. Undrinkable.
The tables & floor could use a good scrubbing. The colorful paint & decor do not hide that the restaurant is dirty.

Our favorite Mexican spot on Padre Island. The salsa is fantastic, the chips are awesome. The drinks come in a collectors cup and are made with a “solid pour”. The food is also tremendous no one at our table had any complaints. We make it a point to visit here for at least one meal every time we come down and I plan to collect ALL the cups “infinity stone” style one of these days, though it’ll probably take a few trips.

The food at Señor Donkey’s was excellent. Our group ordered a mix of tacos—bean and cheese, crunchy beef, and birria—and honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them. That said, my birria tacos with the consommé were hands down the star of the table. Absolute perfection.
While the food totally delivered, the service fell a bit short. We had to flag down multiple staff members just to get our order in, and the wait time felt longer than expected—especially for a slower dinner crowd with plenty of open tables and wait staff around.
All that said, the food alone is reason enough to come back. Fingers crossed the service matches the quality of the tacos next time, because when it’s good… it’s really good.

We had a party of 14. We were seated right away. Food was fantastic. Our server Candelario R was AMAZING. Highly recommend him and this restaurant. Lastly, food came out quickly!
