Wanted to come here for a long time. All in all it was fine. Went for child’s birthday and brunch. They have a kids menu but it’s not great. Ordered orange chicken off the kids menu and it was super dry, no sauce. Drinks were good. Coffee was excellent. The waitress was super helpful and friendly. However, the kitchen was extremely slow that day. Over 20 minutes for a kids cheeseburger. Everything else was very slow as well. Thank goodness for the waitress and pleasant atmosphere. Glad we tried it but might skip it in the future.

The vibe here is so cool and the food is absolutely delicious! No notes!! We tried a variety of stuff and every single thing we would order again. Highly recommend for a quaint night out. Mocktails available too which is always nice.

My wife and I dropped into the Starling as a whim for a weeknight respite. Located in an upscale apartment house next to the freeway, the Starlings’ offbeat location was perplexing. However, the Starling reminded me of the Waterbury Restaurant located in the Waterbury upscale apartment house overlooking Bde Maka Ska. So, what do I know?

The space is lovely, with a touch of class. Drinks were poured well, and the staff was upbeat and fun. The menu was eclectic, with many offerings that had an Asian touch. Sadly, I didn’t enjoy my pork buns; the pork belly tasted too fatty. Yet, my fries were excellent. For us, the Starling is in a location we don’t frequent, but if it were nearby, I would stop in again to try their other menu offerings. Our drinks were good.

Food was underwhelming and oversalted. Wanted a Gai Noi or Khaluna experience but it was far from it in terms of flavor and ambience. Main flavor present was salt — hard to detect any other flavors — and food was greasy. Popcorn: good. Chicken wings (dry rub): mid, no sauce. Chicken yakisoba: good but mayo on top has got to go. French fries: good. Shrimp fried rice: rice was soggy and clumped together. Tom kha soup: best bite here! Green beans: overcooked and disappointing. Very greasy. Nice seasonal kombucha, really really friendly employees, and great service! Can’t complain about service and friendly people all around. Food just didn’t hit the spot.

LOVE Starling! The ambiance is unmatched – so welcoming, whimsical, and delightful. I love the falafel burger. Delicious flavors and super filling. The french fries are divine – my kiddo declared they are the best french fries he’s ever had. Can’t wait to go back.

2026 Update – Visited Starling again for a Galentine’s Brunch and we were met with an even better experience (how that’s possible, I don’t know). Our table shared the furikake popcorn, hummus, french fries, ginger fried rice, bacon & egg fried rice, thai chicken salad, caesar salad, and the amazing ube tres leches cake (pictured!). I could eat the ginger fried rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So good. We were in the solarium and it was magical. Would highly recommend for a baby shower or bridal shower!

Great restaurant. Everything you order does not includes a side. The price does not match the food not coming with sides but it was very flavorful. Wings were awesome! I’d go back for the drinks. I do wish they had daiquiri or blended drink options. The view threw off the atmosphere as the restaurant is very nice but view of cars driving by so close made it feel weird. It is located under an apartment building at the side and parking was not plenty but we found a spot.

Got the breakfast tacos. Nothing special at all. The eggs were cold and the tacos didn’t have much flavor. I also had a side of pork belly which was very basic. Server was great and cool atmosphere, but we were expecting more of the food.

Great aesthetic and decor. Cute! Food was pretty good. Green beans were a bit greasy but I enjoyed the green curry and steamed bun. I didn’t like the surprise $5 charge for a soda water. Had I known that, I would have purchased a beer or kombucha for basically the same price. Also the server didn’t refill any of our waters unless we asked (which we did twice) and was not prompt.

Beautiful spot with excellent service!

The food was flavorful and fresh although not necessarily my favorite (maybe we ordered the wrong thing) and that’s the into reason I gave it a 4. Drinks were yummy and strong.

My friend and I went to the restaurant for happy hour and quickly got a table. There is a very welcoming ambience there in a beautifully decorated venue. Loved the bird music playing in the bathroom, just peaceful!!

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich (which had flavors of Indian food, very unique, chicken was very thick). I also ordered the tropical daiquiri and can’t remember what my friend ordered. Would recommend and would like to come back during another time to try more of the menu.
