I spent my afternoon here to get some work done when a troublesome customer came in. I did not mean to listen in however I was alarmed when I heard the old lady ask the cashier what he did outside of work (in the context, it felt inappropriate to ask so I was alarmed), in which he responded he was a student. The old lady proceeded to say something that visibly upset the cashier and he respectfully excused himself from the situation and refused service. This was where Roxy stepped in and tried to de-escalate the situation by understanding what the customer was upset about.
Roxy maintained a professional, polite, and neutral stance in trying to understand the situation that had just unfolded.
However, the old lady kept cutting her off.
Roxy had a difficult time trying to understand the situation as the old lady proceeded to tell her kids that she was “sorry for this horrible experience.” At this point, this has caught the attention of everyone else in the store because the old lady continued to harass the workers.
I admire the strength Roxy and her colleagues had in facing this customer. She swiftly got the old lady’s order done and stayed respectful and professional amidst the hectic situation.
That’s how you treat a fellow human.
I don’t just come to this Starbucks for the reliable caffeine fix (though my usual Pike Place is always perfect). I come for the feeling.
It hit me one day while waiting at the cross streets of Grand & Amar. In the beautiful Spanglish that lives in our community and in my own heart, these streets whisper a mission statement: “Grand Amar” — To Love Greatly.
And you know what? This store embodies it. It’s in the warm “Hi, welcome!” from the hustling baristas. It’s in the patient smile when I accidentally order a “grande” latte and my brain does a little poetic flip. They don’t just serve coffee; they serve connection.
The manager has created a spot that feels like the living room of the neighborhood—a place where you can love your work, love your quiet moment, or love catching up with a friend greatly. The atmosphere is as warm as the coffee, and the vibe is genuinely inclusive.
So if you’re looking for more than just a cup, come to the “Starbucks of Grand Amar.” Taste the excellent drinks, but stay for the feeling. It’s a clever little gift hidden in a street sign, turned into a genuinely lovely experience.
¡Nos vemos allí! / See you there!
If you’re thinking about going inside this Starbucks, don’t. Unless you enjoy waiting 20-30 minutes for a single cup of coffee while questioning your life choices.
This place somehow manages to turn making coffee into a slow-burn documentary. Orders take forever, and when they finally come out, there’s a solid chance they’re wrong anyway. It’s like a mystery box — you ordered one thing, but let’s see what surprise you get.
The whole operation feels like it’s being run on vibes instead of urgency. Lots of movement, lots of noise, zero efficiency. Watching this place operate is like watching people figure out what coffee is in real time.
If you want fast service, do yourself a favor and use the drive-thru. Seriously. DO NOT GO INSIDE. Going inside is how you lose half an hour and gain unnecessary stress before you’ve even had caffeine.
Starbucks is supposed to be fast, convenient, and consistent. This location somehow misses all three.
One star. And that’s only because Yelp won’t let me give zero.
This location has become my new favorite spot. The people come are mostly respectful. I was worried about the groups the students, but they respect of the shared area.
I make sure to buy a drink every few hours to make sure support the staff. They are super friendly and I look forward to morning coffee. I am not a morning person.
I am wanting to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at this starbucks. After completing a purchase through the drivethru, I parked and entered the store to use the restroom. As I was leaving, an employee loudly remarked to a colleague clearly intended for me to hear that they would “make sure to tell people they can only use the restroom after a purchase.”
Frankly, I found this display of professionalism to be quite poor. Since the restrooms are multi-stall facilities that were otherwise unoccupied, my presence didn’t prevent any other guests from using them. Furthermore, it seems absurd to make such a pointed comment as if a single additional use would somehow disrupt the pre-scheduled cleaning rotation.
To have this brought up so publicly in a professional setting felt disrespectful not only to me a paying customer but to the general atmosphere of the store. A very Tactless approach, and shows little impulse control by the employee
Surprise after that a woman with fair skin, black hair, colored eyes and glasses, come to me, suddenly asked me in English to be quiet, saying she could hear me all the way to her table. This took me by surprise, as the place was busy with music and blenders running. I understand this is a public place, not a library, and some noise is expected on a busy morning.
Few minuts after the lady seated back to me asked me in English, “What happened?” I replied I don’t know that it was too early to arguments. I then left the location.
But my daughter called me asked me to buy her a drink, so I returned. While ordering, I asked the cashier if any noise restrictions existed. I explained that the woman sitting behind me had asked me to be quiet. To my surprise, the cashier said this woman was the manager. I asked her the manager or the owner and she confirmed “the manager”
While waiting for the drink at the side of the counter, the same woman—supposedly the manager—confronted me again, claiming she had heard me complaining to the cashier. I calmly replied in English, “I don’t want to argue, have a nice day,” and she continued insisting, so I repeated, “Have a nice day.”
Security or video footage from that time would show that I was not causing any disturbance or behaving inappropriately. However, this experience left me feeling discriminated against simply for speaking Spanish.
I hope management reviews this situation and provides proper training to staff to prevent discrimination based on language in the future.
THE FEELING THIS SITUATION LEFT ME WITH DURING THE DAY IS HORRIBLE. I DON’T KNOW HOW I SHOULD FEEL IN A STARBUCKS FROM NOW ON, HAVING TO AVOID SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE JUST TO NOT BE TARGETED.
Edit: The day I posted this review, I spoke to starbucks customer services and used the same link that they provided from their response to my review. Nothing happened, they don’t do anything. Horrible customer service that starts from the top.
