During my most recent visit, I had an interaction that felt less welcoming than expected with an employee that had Red Hair and Glasses. I waited several minutes before being acknowledged, which I understood at the time. When I was finally helped, I was asked “What do u want,” which felt abrupt. During the transaction, the employee stepped away briefly, which extended the ordering process. When the order was completed, I was told “Just wait now.” When my drink was ready, I was told “come get ur drink now,” without much acknowledgment, and I was the only customer in the store.
Overall, the interaction felt unprofessional compared to my usual experiences at this location. While this may have been an off day, it did influence my decision to take a break from visiting this store. I hope future interactions return to the level of service I have previously experienced for other people.
There are Starbucks everywhere, and the coffee and food here is just like every other Starbucks. It is the amazing group of employees that make this location stand out! The baristas in Fort Sheridan know their customers well. They are friendly and actively engage with customers. Despite the corporate chain nature of Starbucks, the staff makes it feel like you are walking into a small local business in your home town.
But I am not a regular customer. When I arrived on this bitterly cold December morning, I was just some random schmuck dealing with cold feet (foot), the kind you only get when the sole of your boot, just out of months of off-season storage, decides to go flying from the rest of your boot as you rushed for the train. A terrible way to start a journey! But not only did I get hot coffee and breakfast when I hobbled into this Starbucks, I also got the help of a kind employee who went out of his way to find some tape for me to triage my wounded sole and avoid frostbite while I went home to grab another pair of boots. At a time when the winter is cold and the world seems to be short on acts of kindness, these employees at this location went out of their was to give exceptional customer service! Kudos and thank you!
Staff is friendly though.

I live equal distance between two Starbucks locations but this is the one I regularly order from. Today I decided to take my baby for a walk to pick up breakfast from Starbucks for myself, therefore this required me to bring my service dog. As I arrived to this Starbucks location, one employee standing right outside the doors about to walk in themselves asked me “Is your dog a service dog?” and I answered her question “yes”. So this employee politely held the door open for me so I can walk in pushing my stroller with my service dog. As I was standing in the entrance doors, another employee named Deanna (and I only know her name because when I asked her for it, she confidently let me know and walked to the back) starred at me and my dog with a look of disgust shaking her head no. I froze looking at her with discomfort and asked “so are you denying me service?” And Deanna looks at me shaking her head No again and rolls her eyes as she walks away. She made it very clear that she was denying me service. I even responded saying “wow, you understand what you’re doing is illegal denying me service with the service dog. I am mortified.”
I was completely humiliated. I couldn’t believe they denied me service especially with a service dog. I was mortified and want to make it heard Someone of this location working there thinks it’s acceptable to treat people like this and needs to be educated.
