The Star Of India has great food and they give you a lot of it. I am definitely not a small man so when I say it was a lot it really was a lot. The staff there were very friendly and helpful and helped me decide what I wanted. They give you a choice of mild medium or spicy and I opted for medium which was probably good for me although if I was ordering for my wife, she would probably need mild. I did get my food to go so I didn’t necessarily get a chance to get an idea of the ambiance but it is a place where I would sit down and have a meal if I had more time.

This is Gem hidden within St Cloud. The service was great and staff were even better. We ordered mainly vegetarian food and it was absolutely one of the best food we ever ate outside our home.
There is ample parking outside the restaurant. The pricing were reasonable. The only one request is that they need to increase the serving size of curries and it is small and hardly one person can eat it. Please increase the price and serve ample food.

We went on Sunday for lunch before we headed back to mpls. Being the only Indian restaurant in town, decided to give it a try. We ordered the samosa, aloo, dhal soup, and the bread basket (garlic naan/peshwari/chappati) and also the beef briyani. Our server was very friendly and got our orders in. All the appetizers were great. The mint chutney was some of the best ones I have had. The beef briyani was a disappointment. It missed the mark. It did not taste like briyani at all. It was missing all the basic spice for briyani. Also did not have the cashes or raisins that is usually in the rice. I did bring this up to our server and he said they make their briyani completely different. It had a strong tomato taste and there were green bell peppers. Briyani does not have bell peppers. I would suggest calling it something else than briyani. Overall not bad. They have a lot of options. I would go back to try some of the other items.

Meal for two $55! Such a great deal!!! It included appetizers, main dish, and desserts. There was enough leftovers for both of us to have lunch the next day. I meant to take a picture but it smelled so good…we ate immediately. Also I’m not a big fan of lamb, so they changed it and added more chicken. Very nice staff!

This was actually my 2nd time here. The food is good and very authentic. The staff here is very friendly and does plenty of check ups to top off drinks and see if you need anything else with your meal. They made us feel very welcome as soon as we walked in the door.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. It’s well kept and seems clean. It is decorated nicely. Lots to choose from on the menu and the prices are very affordable.
I will come here again as this is the best Indian food that I’ve had in st.cloud. I would recommend stopping in if you like Indian food or want to try it.

After a long drive, my family and I stopped by Star of India in St. Cloud for dinner, and it turned out to be such a pleasant experience. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan, and the taste was absolutely authentic — flavorful, balanced, and not overloaded with spices. It really felt like genuine Indian cooking.
At one point, I had a small issue with my order, but the chef personally came out, listened carefully, and immediately fixed it. His kindness and professionalism truly stood out. My kid was also delighted — both by the food and the chef’s friendly attitude.
The service was top-notch, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. As we were leaving, they even offered us a cup of tea for our long drive back, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
Overall, an excellent experience — great food, wonderful people, and genuine hospitality.

My wife and I absolutely love it here. Any time our path takes us near St Cloud, we have to make a stop here. We’ve tried so many dishes, and they’ve all been absolutely delicious. The service is always on point and very friendly. My go-to orders are the Chicken Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, or Chicken Kashmiri, and always a side order of Garlic Naan.

Enjoyable meal at Star of India. We asked for one of the meals to be low spice and they delivered that. They make all their food low spice and you can ‘spice it up’ to medium, hot, extra hot.
Servings sizes were huge. At least two servings from each entree. Leftovers to take home.
