Star Lake Inn is one of those places that instantly makes you feel relaxed the moment you walk in. The vibe is so comfortable, no pressure, no pretentious energy, just a solid neighborhood bar where you can actually enjoy yourself.
The drinks are good (balanced, strong enough, and made right), and the service is genuinely good, friendly, attentive, and not overbearing. You can tell the staff knows their regulars but still treats everyone warmly.
Between the cozy atmosphere, good pours, and laid-back energy, it’s the kind of place you can sit, sip, talk, listen to music, and lose track of time in the best way. Perfect for a casual night out or when you just want a spot that feels familiar and welcoming.
Definitely a spot I’ll continue to come back to. ✨

Probably One of the quirkiest little dive bars ever tucked next to a lake in the middle of a suburb looks like a summer camp cabin from the outside. Once You get in and get your drinks on a lazy Susan you have Pool darts, pinball ,good drinks, food and even an old shooting game. Everything you need for a good night out and all comes with a view of the majestic little star lake.

This is one of those places you don’t want to judge just from the outside appearance. This bar has some real history to is. As the sign says it has now been operating during three distinct centuries. The Star Lake Inn is found on a little travelled road along a lake in what could be considered a residential área. Having been open in the late 1800s, it used to be a stopping point for soldiers and others travelling Military Road. The staff is friendly and the view looking over the lake on a snowy day is almost magical.

My friend, her boyfriend and I went to Star Lake Inn today for some drinks & food before starting work again as teachers this week, as we have done 30+ times. This was a Tuesday at 2pm, after being at our schools setting up our classrooms all morning. My friend was wearing a SKORT that was past finger tip length & a full length shirt, when an older man on a motorized scooter approached us & told her she was “showing too much leg”. Soon after we were told this man was the owner and he gets away with making comments to other woman often because “I’ll still get business”. He then told my friend’s boyfriend that “If you are in here, I’ll be out there talking to her then”. Truly disgusting behavior from the owner & as regulars we are very disappointed.
Absolutely love the bartenders, always amazing service. Just unfortunate that the owner is such a misogynistic creep.

Food takes a long time to get. Standard bar food. Servers have always been nice. Regulars are chatty if you start conversations and leave you alone if you don’t. Great view of a lake from covered smoking area. A great local spot.

Looking to spread the word for other woman in federal way trying to have a fun time!
My boyfriend, friend and I went to Star Lake Inn to enjoy some of our final summer days today at a place we have loved for years. Today, I had the opportunity to meet the owner through him rolling up in his motorized scooter (so you can spot him if you go) to my friend and I while my boyfriend was playing a pinball game. He proceeded to tell me, in my skort at the table, that I was “showing too much leg”. My best friend and I were appalled he said that in the first place, then discovered he was the owner and that he makes many comments similar to woman at this bar and gets away with it because he will continue to get business.
My boyfriend then was told when he came back over to us, went up to the old man owner of Star Lake and said “hey, are you making comments like this to this girl?” And he told my boyfriend “If you are in here, I’ll be out there talking to her then”. Poor, disrespectful ownership for people that have been going there forever.
I just wanted to bring this to public light, knowing many people love and support Star Lake Inn because I was utterly shocked I had to leave today being disrespected by the owner and deal with that after paying for things at this man’s establishment. Women support women, through and through. Shoutout to the men who will do the same for the women they respect in their life to be treated kindly and with respect.

love this historic dive bar- one of the best in federal way. awesome views of the lake, usually a good crowd, typical but decent bar food, good music. my parents even used to hang out here back in the 70’s. if you like dive bars, you’ll most likely love this one.
