What a great atmosphere. 70s & 80s music. Staff is accommodating and easy to talk to. Old time drug store feel with great food. Recommend you stop by for a quick bite. We sat at the counter and it made the experience even better. Get the tomato soup… it’s very good. Not your traditional tomato soup.

My inlaws came to visit from South Carolina and wanted to revisit this wonderful family friendly place. The food and service is fantastic and you can shop before or after your meal.

Definitely go for the atmosphere and friendly service and of course the ice cream! The cheeseburger and island curry sandwich were great. We will be going back on our next visit.

This is the must stop-by while visiting The Strand. Their little cute shop which holds quite a few items of Galveston’s history.
If you look for the great fancy foods, this place won’t have it. However, the unique recipes will surprise you for its outstanding tastes.

Star Drug Store Review – Honest but Still Giving Grace
Let me just start by saying: Star Drug Store is not your average lil’ pick-up spot. This place got history, character, and that old-school Galveston charm that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a postcard. ✨

I came here to pick up some packages—and baby, the process was smooth like butter on a warm biscuit. The first time I came? 10/10. Quick, easy, and the person helping me was sweet as pie.

Now the second time? Ehh… not quite the same vibe. I did run into a server who wasn’t giving the friendliest energy, but look—I’m not gonna name names or drag it out. We all have off days. Maybe Mercury was retrograde or maybe sis just needed a hug. ‍♀️ ‍♀️

I’m still giving this spot its flowers because the good outweighs the weird. You’re not just getting your packages—you’re getting a little Galveston moment. The aesthetic is vintage, the people-watching is top-tier, and it’s the kind of place where something random (but heartwarming) always seems to happen.

Would I go back? Yup.
Would I recommend it? Definitely.
Would I hope the next server’s in a better mood? Absolutely.

All love to Star Drug. You’re a classic.

Side note: if you like McDonald’s Coke, I wouldn’t recommend ordering one from here. It’s on the superrr sweet side

I had been wanting to try this place for about 2 years now. It was so worth the wait! I was blown away at how good the food was, and how friendly the staff were. The owner was super nice and talked with us for a while, and I loved hearing the history of the place. The patty melt I ate was super unique and the eggs my parents had very super fluffy and had great flavor to them. I would always keep returning to this spot and I highly recommend getting breakfast or lunch at this place!

We have visited Galveston numerous times, and this year we finally visited the Star Drug Store for breakfast. Once seated, we were promptly served coffee. The food was so good that we went back for breakfast the next morning. Between two of us we tried the pancakes, French bread French toast, and the egg plate. Everything was fresh and delicious. The store is wonderful, and the staff was courteous and fast. Don’t miss this gem!

The best lunch spot in Galveston! I’ve been coming here for years and love the old school soda fountain vibe. The service is always great and the food is phenomenal.

Also, best Caesar salad around. Try a chocolate Dr. Pepper and enjoy the 1950’s vibe!
