Standing Bar in Hanoi is a fantastic spot for craft beer enthusiasts! Their selection of craft beer deserves a full 5 stars—19 rotating taps featuring an impressive variety of local brews, from seasonal specialties to hard-to-find limited editions. It’s a dream for anyone wanting to explore Vietnam’s growing craft beer scene.

The ambiance is cozy yet lively, with the upstairs terrace offering a gorgeous view of Trúc Bạch Lake. It’s a great place to hang out, especially at sunset. The Japanese-inspired standing concept is fun, but don’t worry—there’s plenty of seating if you prefer to relax.

The food menu is creative and well-thought-out, with a mix of Vietnamese and international flavors, but I felt it could use a bit more consistency. While the grilled skewers and tapas were delicious, some dishes lacked the boldness of flavor you’d expect for the price.

Events like live music and vinyl DJ nights add a unique charm, making it a vibrant hangout spot. The service, while friendly, was a bit slow during peak hours, which slightly impacted the overall experience.

Overall, Standing Bar is a must-visit for beer lovers in Hanoi. Just a touch more attention to service and consistency in the food could make it a five-star experience.

Good beer, good music, and great views of the lake. They have a great selection of beer, different types and different breweries. I recommend going upstairs in the balcony if the weather permits. They also have a ton of food options to snack on while you drink!

A reminder that good vibes should not come at the expense of an entire neighborhood.

Standing Bar Hanoi may be enjoyable for its patrons, but on Sunday night, 14 December 2025, the decision to host very loud live music well past 10:00 PM demonstrated a clear disregard for the surrounding residential community.

Trúc Bạch is not an entertainment zone alone — people live here. Many residents work on Mondays, value rest, and reasonably expect a level of quiet at night. Unfortunately, the volume that evening made it impossible to do something as basic as sleep in one’s own home.

This is not a complaint about music, or even live music. It is about proportion, timing, and consideration. A successful venue should be able to create atmosphere for its customers without imposing it on everyone else within earshot.

I hope management reflects on whether short-term ambience is worth long-term frustration from neighbors who did not choose to attend, but were forced to participate anyway.

Good hospitality should include respect — not just for customers, but for the community around it.

Great atmosphere and an excellent selection of craft beers! I was especially impressed by the Friday IPA—deliciously hoppy with a smooth finish. Highly recommend stopping by for a relaxed evening with friends.
