So this is a shout out the the fabulous people @standardpizzayyj who make this delicious pie. I interpret it as a fabulous New York style pizza that’s slightly thinner on the crust and is absolutely amazing. In the pic we have a mostly eaten White and Margherita. The ingredients are fresh, the flavours very well combined and the red sauce tastes like the one my Italian mama would make.
And just as enjoyable as eating the pies was watching them get cooked. The person manning the oven seemed to have a detailed knowledge of pizza baking technique that was educational for me, because up to now I’ve really just seen people put pizzas in the oven and then take them out. But oh no, not this place. The wood fire is tended meticulously, all the while moving pizza from front to back, back to front, spinning it multiple times and checking the colour of the crust on the bottom, and then, to finish it off, the pizza gets lifted to the highest part of the oven where it’s the hottest, I assume to put that final bit of colour on the crust and cheese.
100000000000/10 for these fine pizza making folks and their establishment.

Easy parking, great tunes playing, friendly staff, the smell of the wood burning oven… I was smiling before even walking out the door.
Ordered a Spicy Hawaiian and house salad. Both delish. Nice char on crust, croutons fresh out of the oven. Well priced for quality of ingredients
The only downside is that there will not be any leftovers for lunch tomorrow 🙂
Best pizza in Victoria.
Must try.
Worth the hype.
So on a Friday night, I finally decide to order.
Their website says they open at 5:00 p.m.
Great. I wait until exactly 5:00 to call.
I phone once. Straight to voicemail.
Phone again. Voicemail again.
Eventually someone answers and I ask to place a pickup order so my wife can grab it on her way home from work at 5:00. Completely normal behavior.
The guy on the phone says:
“Okay, we’re booking right now for 6:50 pickup.”
Two hours.
For pizza.
I genuinely thought he was joking.
Then comes the real kicker.
He casually informs me that they actually start taking phone orders at 4:00 p.m.
Interesting.
Because that information appears absolutely nowhere.
Not on their website.
Not on Instagram.
Not on Google.
Not on their ordering page.
Nowhere.
So apparently there is a secret window of time where you must already know the rules in order to eat dinner like a normal human being.
Had I known that, I would have called at 4:00 on the dot.
But since I followed the information they themselves provide, I was punished with a two hour wait.
This is not being “busy.”
This is a communication failure.
If you only have limited order slots, fine.
If you sell out early, fine.
If you’re wildly popular, also fine.
But if orders open at 4:00 p.m., maybe mention that somewhere publicly instead of treating it like insider knowledge passed down through whispers and Reddit comments.
Because now we’re not talking about quality or demand.
We’re talking about basic logic.
Who eats dinner at 7:00 on a Friday because they dared to call at opening time.
This would never happen in Toronto.
It would never happen anywhere in Europe.
And I’ve eaten pizza all over the world.
Pizza is not supposed to be a scheduled life event.
It is literally the food you order when you want to eat soon.
Instead, my excitement went from “I’ve been dying to try this place” to “I’ll never bother again” in under three minutes on the phone.
I’m sure the pizza is great.
But if you need a decoder ring and advance knowledge of hidden ordering hours just to participate, I’ll pass.
This pizza was clearly crafted with so much care. The workers at the store are always extremely kind and efficient. This should be your new favorite take out spot for pizza night!
